“Lovely hotel in a lovely spot”

We booked our room very last minute and we couldn't have been happier with the service and location. The staff couldn't do more for us (including insisting on doing our ironing for a wedding we were rushing to!) and everyone was charming and considerate. It's three stars so no AC and the bathroom is not brand new but it was cleaned beautifully every day no matter what time we went out and the view from our window (and the lift) was totally Umbrian. For the price, you couldn't do better.

This was my second time staying at this hotel. Because at first everything was so fine that I came back. They offer a nice breakfast which is not common in Italy because of the style they eat. There was pastry, scrambled eggs, toast, fruit, cold cuts, salami, cereals and a coffee machine as well. I only missed the vegetables. The rooms simple but nice and comfortable. And it is only a few steps from the main square. It is easy to find a restaurant or any shops.

An old hotel in the heart of Perugia, 3 minutes' walk from the centre. Unique in that it has its own private parking, which should be booked in advance; though it was a little difficult to find up a very narrow, steep street! I had passed it, and then had to manoeuvre backwards and round a tight corner - but worth the effort. The rooms were small but adequate. The very good breakfast was served on the roof terrace, with spectacular views over the city and surroundings

Usually I am not too fussy about hotels - you get what you pay for, and I am relatively cheap when I travel by myself for a city break. This hotel irritated me. First: I emailed them to ask advice on how to get from airport to hotel. Heard nothing back. I ended up having to take a taxi at the airport - the thief put the ride on the meter, cost me 40 euros - and yet there’s a capped price of 30 euros I should have been charged. But I didn’t know that. When I arrived, the check in wasn’t for a few hours. The guy at reception was cold and uninterested. Didn’t really help me with my questions about the mini metro and buses - and basically was in a bad mood. When I returned to check in proper he was a bit more helpful, but he didn’t (for example) click on the fact that his advice on mini metro station for my trip to Siena on Sunday was useless (because the mini metro opens at 9 and my bus was at 8:30 from Piazetta Umberto Jazz). Luckily I realised this, or I would have been totally screwed and missed my bus on Sunday morning. The other chap at reception was a little more helpful - sorted me out for a bus on Sunday morning. I am sorry, I can afford taxis but I don’t like to take them. Why should I? The breakfast was too late - 7:15 was after my departure time for day trips, so I only had it one day, and it was ok. No fruit - just pastries, cereal and eggs/ bacon. The bedroom was fine, I didn’t think the bed was uncomfortable as other travellers, and there was an extra pillow, which I like. The shower did get everything wet. But they change towels. My main quibble is the other people staying at the hotel were loud and obnoxious, often after 11pm, which is way past my bedtime, so I didn’t sleep soundly. WiFi wasn’t great, and neither was reception in the room. So overall, hotel was ok, but I would suggest customer service needs to improve significantly.

“Average”
Rooms are a bit dated, beds could be a lot more comfortable. We didn’t have an air conditioner only a small fan for four people which was annoying. Breakfast and wifi provided and sufficient. Close to shops and attractions in Perugia. Overall it was an average stay and could have been a bit better.
