We had a wonderful 3 night stay here. We were given a room upgrade to a junior suite, which was huge & equipped with everything we could possibly need - minibar, coffee machine, bath and shower, separate space in the foyer for our luggage and a huge lounge area. Bottled water was provided daily and there was a pillow menu to ensure a perfect night’s sleep. Although located outside the old town, there is direct access into the large park behind the hotel and from there it’s a very short walk along shady paths to the Giuseppe Verdi bridge that leads directly into the city centre. The park itself is very popular with locals and tends to be quite busy well into the evening so it’s a safe walk at any time. The hotel is also only a short walk from the railway station. We did not eat at the hotel, but there is a restaurant and a separate buffet area AND a bar with plenty of seating. Staff were helpful and friendly and we could not have had a better stay.

It is a very, very special hotel experience and once inside, it is sheer old-world elegance. You are treated like royalty at the check-in desk, as we were by lovely Veronica who corresponded in English and made us feel immediately welcomed as a valued guest. We were fortunate to have a 1-Bedroom/2-Bath (both with tubs)/2-level suite whose windows measured nearly 2-story-tall. A large one opens for a wonderful breeze as the loft area gets a bit warmer than downstairs. There is a mini-bar refrigerator, kettle and espresso maker, 2 TVs and loads of towels as the level one bathroom has double sinks. The view out the giant windows keeps Parma in your mind and especially if you need any food items because you are directly across from an enormous Conad Superstore. There you will find every food item known to man. The downtown area with all its shops and museums and churches is a 15-minute walk, just slightly beyond the train station (which is also a quick stroll from there to the DuParc). Breakfast is fantastic: the most delicious scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, yogurts/nuts, cheeses, cold meats, breads, fresh apples/oranges and some truly sinful pastries. There is a fitness room with free weights, machines, stretching mat, towels and water (also an adjacent restroom/shower). And special mention absolutely must be made about the King bed, which was larger than most and just heavenly. Alas, it’s off to Bologna for more of our Italian adventure — but the Starhotels DuParc will remain fondly in our thoughts for a long, long time.

The hotel is a slightly odd mix of 1980s outside and classic inside . The room was beautiful, very spacious with a huge bathroom lots of storage with proper hangers, tea making and lovely bathroom products and a huge bed with pillow menu. An unattractive view over a water works , at the side of a nice park. The air con is OK, not great, the bed comfy. The breakfast is fantastic value with a large range ( avoid the orange juice ) . The coffee and food options are plentiful and delicious. We had small problem with the bath which was very quickly resolved. The reception staff are either exhausted or dis- interested. We arrived and asked about visiting a nearby shopping outlet , or going into town. We were given vague information, turned out everything was closed as it was a festival day. With the festival happening right outside the hotel ! . I'd expect reception staff to know this, and tell me the town is closed, and advise me . No one in reception has smiled once . Dining room staff were friendly. The hotel is 10 minutes stroll from the old town , but reception need to tell guests to go round the back of the hotel to cut through park . The parking on site is easy, and the hotel was fantastic value for money. We would come back , its spotlessly clean and the room was lovely. Some rooms look out onto the back of the adjacent building which wouldnt be nice , our room was a superior double and well worth it !

When the coffee machine ran out of cappuccino on a very busy morning, just ask the staff and they bring one from the bar. The room and bathroom was spotless. My only criticism which is a personal one is that the walk into the old town was quite long. It is possible to go through the nice Park behind the hotel in daylight hours but I would definitely not go through at night. Also, if you have a pre-breakfast departure for an early flight, the breakfast box is useless. Don’t bother! Altogether though I really enjoyed my stay.
