We wanted short walking distance to the Trevi Fountain and Boutique Hotel Trevi met our requirements, only one minute walking distance to Trevi Fountain. When we entered the hotel, the hotel lobby had the appearance of sophistication and elegance, staff very friendly, helpful and welcoming - check in was smooth and efficient. Staff are only too happy to arrange a taxi for you, assist you how to get from their hotel to the attraction(s) you want to go and they will even give you a map for easy navigation. We were advised that our pre-paid buffet breakfast is located in the basement. When entering our room, we were surprised, there’s evidence of wear and tear, due to age and definitely neglect. The rooms were very clean, had all the necessities you needed (body wash / shampoo, coffee/tea condiments, air con, tele and the necessary appliances), to make our stay comfortable. The bathroom was cozy, hardly any room to put your toiletry on the basin and has a shower and bathtub combo. Every time we had a shower, for some strange reason, the water leaked through the glass panel – we simply put a towel on the floor to soak up the water and save us from having an accident when hopping out of the bathtub. The bed and pillows were firm and comfortable – we had a decent sleep, which is important to us, so we can start the day afresh with new found energy. Buffet breakfast is a cheaper version compared with what we had already experienced during our travels. They did have cereals, breads, cakes, cold cuts, cheese, boiled eggs, fruit etc – we did give the selection a try but it was cheap and tasteless. The following mornings, we settled down with their packets of puffed toast topped with cheese or Nutella – it did the job of having something in your tummy. Had we known, we wouldn’t have pre-paid our breakfast, as there are many cafés nearby. There’s only one lady on duty, pretty much off her feet, busy clearing tables, washing dishes, serving coffee etc – always with a smile on her face, very accommodating… she was amazing! But there was one thing that you could not avoid and it was the unpleasant smell, not just in our rooms but throughout the hotel. I could only speculate that it could quite possibly be dampness and/or mould? That was evident in the bathroom. We left our bedroom windows opened to let in the fresh air but every time we returned to our room, the cleaners closed the windows shut but we always returned to very clean rooms. If you’re looking for prime location, then Boutique Hotel Trevi is unmatched. The hotel is very close to the main attractions… Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Colosseum, restaurants, gelaterias, bars… all walking distance. I cannot fault the staff in any way, they were absolutely friendly and very accommodating to our needs. But there is definitely room for improvement and that is to give that much needed, new and improved renovations to this hotel. I do understand that they and many others have been hit hard with the unforgivable, brutal lockdowns in 2021 and are still struggling to recoup their losses. But I truly believe if they renovate a room at a time, they will restore their good reputation that they had once before. Overall, we were happy and I recommend this hotel on the basis of their prime location.
