Have just spent 10 days here with my partner for a friends wedding. The hotel is absolutely charming and the staff are very friendly and professional. They even managed to get both of our suits fully laundered and pressed in the late afternoon before the wedding the next morning. The rooms are a little dated, but it is completely in keeping with the period of the hotel. Everything is fully functional. The wifi signal isn't great but is fully functional - we managed to stream netflix fine on the fourth floor. The sea view rooms are a must - the view of the bay of naples and mount vesuvius in the morning is amazing! There is a taxi rank outside the hotel, a couple of shops for snacks etc close by and the ramp/steps down to the metro and coast area are across the road. The steps are steep, but this is Naples - it's on a hill so unless you want to pay for taxis everywhere, you'll find the steps very usefull! All in all, a great choice of hotel at a bargain price.

“Amazing view from historic hotel”

Excellent view from the room, both of the Napoli bay and the volcano Vesuvius. All of the staff was really friendly except for one in the reception. Old building but good cleaning. Historicly significant building as it was a headquarter for Mussolini's officers during the second world war.

The Britannique is well located, a 10 minute walk from the Metro and close to both local shops and the more upmarket areas of the city. Our room was small and quite basic, but clean and functional. The Britannique is well located, a 10 minute walk from the Metro and close to both local shops and the more upmarket areas of the city. Our room was small and quite basic, but clean and functional. If you can, get a room with a view of the Bay of Naples. Breakfast was a basic continental type. The hotel service was extremely warm and friendly. The only area where we would mark the hotel down would be that it looks dated, and could do with some modernising, but for what we paid, we were extremely happy.

If you like walking this is a great location as you will need to walk up and down some to get to the nearest Metro. There is a 'short cut' to the metro but it was closed in August, unlucky us. on the positive side we did set records for our steps on Fitbit. If you are lucky enough to get a sea view, the views are spectacular. Our room wasn't clean. Hairs in bath. The floor hadn't been swept. Dust on many objects in the room. We accept that the hotel wasn't expensive (hence the value rating) but the standard of cleaning was below par which is not acceptable at any price. Bed comfortable. Air conditioning and hot water worked perfectly. Breakfast was average. Same limited choice every day but bearable. The breakfast salon could be described as having 'character' if you have imagination. Were those spots of blood on the wallpaper? Some mafia shootout? Staff were polite and friendly although a bit jaded like the hotel. You felt the glory days had passed...maybe...forty years ago. In short, if you don't mind walking and just need the minimum at a reasonable price - this will do. If you want the hotel to contribute positively to your trip then maybe there are better options.
