All-Inclusive Regulations in the Balearic Islands…
On 23 January 2020, the new Balearic Law against Tourism Excesses entered into force, which prohibits all-inclusive deals with unlimited alcoholic beverages. Only a maximum of three alcoholic beverages per guest will be served during lunch and/or dinner.
We would also like to inform you of the following restrictions included in the law:
Practices which may endanger the life, health and physical integrity of guests are strictly prohibited at hotels, apartments and holiday properties. These practices include climbing from one balcony or window to another and jumping from inappropriate places such as balconies into swimming pools (a practice widely known as ';balconing';). Guests breaking the law will be immediately banished from the property and may be fined, states the law and the corresponding municipal regulations. The hotel/apartment manager or property agent must order said guests to leave immediately, which may require assistance from the security forces.
Failure to comply with the prohibition of practices which may endanger the life, health and physical integrity of guests will be considered a serious offence. In the Balearic Islands, serious offences are subject to a fine between 6,001 and 60,000 euros.

I really loved this hotel for many reasons. The location is perfect, just a few minutes walk to the bustling main Piazzo Tasso. The hotel itself has a wonderful art deco feel to it, is clean and comfortable with the added bonus of a roof bar and pool – a great place to relax and take in the magnificent views over the town and bay. All the staff were great, but I have to make a special mention to the head waiter – I took ill a couple of months before we went and had to follow a very restricted diet. This man went out of his way to ensure I had something different to eat each night within the limitations of my diet – I just cannot thank him and his staff enough for the care and consideration they gave me :-) I would definitely return to, and recommend this hotel.

This hotel is in the pefect location, just minutes from the main Square - Piazzo Tasso. Our room was very big and very clean with housekeeping every day and towels changed daily - even though we indicated we were happy to use again. The pool area is small but there are other terraced areas where sunbathing can be done. We were on a half-board basis but found the food to be very bland and unappetising - one night the vegetarian option was grilled cheese sandwiches !! I would recommned this hotel for its location but would recommend you stay on a room only basis because there are loads of bars and restaurants a short distance away. We loved Sorrento and will definitey return one day.

First the good stuff. This hotel may be getting on in years but still retains its right to call itself a "Grand Hotel. It is spotlessly clean and all the fixtures and fittings are in good order. The staff are friendly and attentive, there is always a stall member around to answer any queries. Our room, 206, was large enough to be called a suite in most other Italian hotels, with a separate sitting area with a second door opening onto the large balcony and the bed was the largest I've seen in an Italian hotel. The dining room is maybe lacking in ambience but there is certainly no shortage of stall and the food is of good quality and well presented. For those on half board there is a good choice of buffet food but (and this is the first of my niggles) the "hot food" was never hot unless you got to the dining room when it opened at 7.00 am, this also applied to the coffee, in the seven days we were there we never found a hot cup of coffee. The dinner menu always offers a choice that includes traditional Italian food, British and American favourites (e.g. steak and chips) and a vegetarian option. Alongside the dining room there is a comfortable, well-furnished lounge with a bar that was never opened, if you wanted a post dinner drink or coffee you have to go to the roof top bar and sit on chairs similar to garden furniture. At the rear of the hotel is a very pretty garden but with the constant traffic noise it is far from peaceful. If you exit the hotel through the garden it is only a short walk to Piazza Tasso, the busy square that is the social centre of Sorrento. But this is the one and only reason why I would not go back to the Cesare Augusto, my wife and I are both in our late 70s and have walking difficulties, the walk back from Piazza Tasso is uphill and when you reach the hotel the is seven flights of steps through the garden to reach the rear doors of the hotel. So regretfully arthritis prevents us from returning to a very nice, reasonably priced hotel.

We picked this hotel because of its position which was good. Five minutes walk into the main square. Rooms are spacious and clean. Daily clean towels were much appreciated. Only hair and body shampoo, soap, toothbrush provided. The main bar was closed which was a nuisance as we had to have a drink in the very brightly lit pool bar on the sixth floor which lacked atmosphere. The food was typical tour hotel food, plentiful, boring and chosen with unimaginative Brits in mind. Other guests in the hotel thought the food was ok but maybe they had lower expectations. We found the waiters to be grumpy and surly, I just felt we were people to be processed quickly so they could go home at 21.30. They weren’t helpful at all and we had to ask for an ice bucket every night and usually got still water when we asked for sparkling.
