When I say it’s worth the view, it is honestly worth the view. When we finally got to the hotel, it literally took our breath away. But before you book, please check where it is and how to get there, because it’s not a trip for the faint hearted. We flew too Milan Malpensa Airport, then you just need to take a train (station is in the airport) to Saronno; from Saronno to Como Lago. (total journey time about 2hours) To get to the hotel you then need walk from the train station (less than 5 mins) to the Funicolare station and take the funicular (which was €3 each way and did get busy midday as tourists use this to visit the lighthouse at the top, which is a very short walk from the hotel and has breathtaking views). From the top of there you can ring them and they will pick you up and take you to the hotel, unless you like a challenge it’s about 20 minutes of up hill walking. The hotel was stunning, we did have the Junior Suite with Lake View - so you can have the view out to the water. The rooms were a little small I thought, but newly refurbished and had everything you needed. I have seen some comments about the showers, but we didn’t have any problems with ours. I booked directly through their website as you get the best price, and the transfer from the funicular is free plus you get 10% off food and drinks in their in house restaurant & bar. All hotel members of staff were so happy and helpful, never once did we have an issue. They were so patient with us when we needed the transfers, nothing was ever too much bother. They were always polite and did put out cute water shots for the morning and places us in great spots for breakfast. Could not fault the staff for their hard work and efforts to keep us happy. The pool area was clean and tidy, the view from it is absolutely spectacular, it’s also heated so was perfect for us at the end of May. They also have a sauna which was pleasant to use, nice and clean, looked very new. The hot tub was available in the days which was a lovely treat for us, but be careful if you have any jewellery on as mine did tarnish going in there, best to take them off! They were open from 7.30am till 7.30pm if I remember correctly but you can pay a small fee to use them after this time and then they are only for your use (you need to book this in advance) The in house restaurant ‘Mama Gina’ was fantastic, there was also another restaurant across the road and a pizzeria which we went to and they did fresh pizzas which were fantastic. We ate inside as it was end of may and not too hot, but there is a balcony terrace with tables for the warmer months. The bar area is small but cosy, we have a few evening drinks here looking out the windows, they also had fresh pastries which were delicious. Honestly couldn’t name a fault with the hotel. For what you pay and the view you get it’s amazing. We went for my partners 30th birthday, so when you book through the website you can add on little packages, so it was nice to arrive with balloons and beers. The pictures on the website do not do this place justice and it’s a shame. If you do not mind the trip to get there it is 100% worth it, the best view of Lake Como.
