“A wonderful holiday”

This is a great site with all the facilities you could want for a family holiday. It's a large and hilly site so be aware of that, but the entertainment, staff, pools, food and drink options etc are absolutely excellent. I wish I was still there.

We stayed the last week of August, family of 4 (kids 2,5) booked through Eurocamp, 2bed premium with lounge decking. Overall we had a lovely relaxing holiday. The cabin was clean, modern and comfy and we were lucky to be very well located, just a short 2min walk from the main centre at the lower end so very handy. The cabin was quite small and definitely a squeeze though. This was our second eurocamp holiday and we felt this cabin wasn’t as well layed out as our last holiday. We made sure we had one with lounge decking which is definitely worth the extra to sit comfortably outside more. This cabin had no hairdryer (it says on the website site it does but when I rang the desk to ask them to bring one they said they no longer provide the and it is an error on the website), no hanging space and the inside table was squashed up right against the ‘sofa’. You couldn’t open the dishwasher without pushing the table and chairs right out the way. There was no cupboard space for food, only one mirror and very little bathroom storage space, so toiletries were on the floor. Shower temperature was tricky to get consistent and regularly fluctuated between too hot or freezing cold. We ordered the linen package but I feel this provided quite poor value for money with thin old bed covers and doesn’t include a shower mat so the floor was always wet outside the shower. The on-site Wi-Fi is poor and drops out a lot but we were able to ‘roam like at home’ with our network provider so didn’t bother us. The air con was great given the weather (heatwave!) though. The site itself was very clean, tidy and well kept. Even the communal showers and toilets. Laundry facilities on site for €5/load. We had a hire car so did a full shop at the large co-op in Figline Valdarno - the on-site shop had quite a few things though and wasn’t badly priced. Parking on site - we always managed to find a space near our cabin. Pools generally felt full and crowded and was a bit dirty in places but we could always get a sun bed somewhere to leave our stuff. It did quieten down towards the end of our week into September. We preferred the upper pool area as it felt less chaotic and more suited to younger kids but it is a hot uphill hike or a queue for the train. I liked how the shallower pool area floors were spongy and soft to cushion slips and falls. Avoid restaurante Bollo on site, it was terrible - bland ready meal food. There is a hu web app where you can find out what’s on but you can’t book anything through it. We tried to book the buffet at restaurant Sant Andreas one evening but they don’t answer the phone or respond to emails as suggested. We had ‘dinner in the vineyard’ on Saturday evening at Palagina just up the road. This was a 3 course meal arranged by the camp and we used their shuttle service so we could enjoy the wine. It was brilliant, and we thoroughly recommend - a highlight of our trip. The kids enjoyed it too. We managed independent day trips to brolio castle, Greves and Firenze (train from Figline V). Overall we would recommend this park and we had a really relaxing family break.

Our teenage children enjoyed the pool complexes. The general feel of the park was fun and family friendly. The park is clean, well looked after, and the staff are friendly and helpful. “Lovely rustic stay in the Chianti hills with everything you need onsite”

We love Hu Openair villages and this one is the best yet. It's a large site with a mix of camping, mobile homes and apartments. We stayed in an apartment and although it needed updating a bit, we were out most of the time so got used to it. It had superb aircon though. Hu villages are great, the animation teams and staff are always so friendly and happy, there is never a grumpy face! Big shout out to Ronald and Sergio for their water workouts in the mornings - they have so much crazy energy!! The site itself is very hilly, it's split with a pool complex at the top and one at the bottom, we preferred the bottom one as the walk wasn't so tough! The accommodation is spread all around the site so you're never too far from things, plus there's a ting ting train which runs around the site all the time so you can get from A-B. Hu run a whole series of events throughout the day from workouts to teen football to beach volleyball, so much to do if you want to. Plus on site there are amazing restaurants, other food vendors too such as a pizza bar, burger place, sushi bar and pasta takeaway and of course gelato. the food places and shops on site weren't ridiculously priced, there is a new huge Co-op about 5 mins drive away outside of the village which is good for more variety. Outside of the village you are in the middle of the Chianti countryside, amazing part of Tuscany with so many hill towns and cities to visit. We visited Greve in Chianti, Pisa, Florence and even did a day trip to Rome! Hu Openair also run various coach trips but we found these to be quite expensive and as we had a hire car, we were fine with that or used local trains from Figline Valdarno station (which has free parking!). Overall, we loved the village, the accommodation was ok, we got what we paid for, but you are outside 95% of the time so it's just a place to sleep and shower. You can make your stay as busy or relaxed as you want, some people seemed to just laze outside of their accommodation whilst others were down at the pool, or you can get out and about - the perfect mix!
