Centrale was a great choice! We stayed there to celebrate my sister's birthday, and we usually prefer boutique hotels in Europe over the larger chains. Relais Hotel Centrale Firenze really impressed us. The staff was fantastic right from the start; Mr. Edigio welcomed us with a smile as soon as we arrived. Filippo, at the front desk was super patient and helpful during check-in, giving us great directions. Rachel and Silvia were also really friendly and nice. Even though it was a bit of a pain to negotiate and find a cozy room with enough space, we were accommodated well, thus, the 5 stars. We were really happy with our stay! We’ll definitely come back to this hotel in the future and will totally recommend it to our family and friends. PROS: 1. Location - It's just a quick 2-3 minute stroll to the Duomo di Firenze (and trust me, I have short legs!), about 7-10 minutes to the train station where most day tours pick up, and around 10-15 minutes to the Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, and Piazza Della Signoria. Plus, there are plenty of restaurants, shops, and coffee spots nearby, including a Starbucks just a minute away. 2. Free Breakfast - The breakfast bar has a solid selection, and they also whip up hot meals like eggs, omelets, and pancakes on request. 3. Free Wi-Fi - You get a username and password when you check in. 4. Bathroom - You’ll find toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, and lotion available. Plus, there’s a decent supply of towels too. CONS: 1. Rooms & Hallways - We were initially placed in a room on the 2nd floor that was quite a trek from the elevator and felt really cramped with two twin beds pushed together. It was so tight that we couldn't even separate the beds. The other rooms we checked out had a musty smell that set off my allergies! But credit to Filippo, he was really accommodating and eventually found us a ground-floor room with actual twin beds that had enough space. 2. Elevator - The elevator is your typical European size, so it’s pretty small. There’s no way four pieces of luggage and two people could fit in there, and it’s incredibly slow. 3. Wi-Fi Limit - While the Wi-Fi is free, it only allows for two devices to connect. 4. Bar - We could hardly find someone to help out, but not really a big-deal. 5. A/C - The air-conditioner does not cool that much. It was uncomfortable during the heat of August.

This is a fantastic hotel - central location only about 200m from The Duomo - so safe - only ten minutes to walk to the train station - loads of places to eat and drink within a couple of minutes. Everything extremely clean - bathrooms, bed linen and literally all staff so pleasant - very secure within the hotel also. A very good breakfast. Would be our first place to stay if we visit again.

We recently stayed at Hotel Centrale for one night, and overall, it was a fantastic experience with just a few minor hiccups. The reception staff were absolutely incredible! From the moment we arrived, they were welcoming, friendly, and eager to assist with any questions or requests and even upgraded us and allowed us to check-in early. They relayed the history of the hotel from when it was a palace and then a hotel in the 1900s. Their service really set the tone for a comfortable stay and made us feel very well taken care of. The room itself was amazing—spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated with a charming blend of modern amenities and traditional Florentine touches. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and after a long day of exploring the city, it was exactly what we needed. The view from the window was lovely too, adding a special touch to the overall ambiance. However, there was one downside at that was breakfast. While the spread was decent, the breakfast area felt chaotic. It seemed understaffed, and the layout was a bit cramped, making it difficult to navigate around other guests. There was also some confusion with replenishing items, leading to delays in getting basic things like meats, cheeses and fresh pastries. It felt like the experience didn’t match the high standard set by the rest of the hotel. Despite the somewhat disorganised breakfast, our stay at Hotel Centrale was still wonderful thanks to the outstanding staff, its very central location and the superb room. We would definitely recommend this hotel, especially for short stays—just be prepared for a bit of a busy breakfast scene.
