My advice is dont rely on google maps, go to the tourist board which you will pass if going in the right direction, and get a map! The hotel is just a 7 minute walk from the station and is situated on the 1st floor of a residential block. Greeted warmly by a smartly dressed woman, who explained everything, which included the free tea and coffee available all afternoon. Our room (no. 1) was beautiful with 16th century frescos on the ceiling and the walls. The bathroom was compact with a "pullout wrap around" shower but it did the job. The towels and bed linen were of excellent quality. Breakfast was typical Italian, so sweet. It was served to your table and included fruit juice, yoghurt, pastry and cake. There was a choice of hot drinks. We also met a gentleman member of staff who was delightful and explained the type of coffee they used when my husband asked about it. There ate 2 excellent restaurants on the doorstep. Medini across the road and Ciro Bros. just 1 minute walk but you need to reserve a table in both as they are extremely popular. If I ever visit Florence again, this would definitely be my choice for the hotel. Highly recommended.

Located on the first floor of a typical Florentine residential building this place spoke of elegance from the moment I entered. An extremely friendly and efficient lady checked me in early and look after my bags which she kindly offered to move to my room once it was free. The decor is beautiful here and my room, though small (you get what you pay for), was comfortable. Good quiet sleep was provided courtesy of blockout blinds. The bathroom was well appointed. It's a 5 minute walk from the railway station and about 10-15 mins to the Duomo and the Arno. It made my stay easy. Directly downstairs is a local style restaurant that was brilliant. See my review of that.

I’ll start with the positives- great location and Laura, I think she’s the hostess/concierge, was lovely. She was very helpful and sweet. Beautiful ceilings/paintings in the rooms that are apparently from the 16th century. The negatives- suuuper noisy. The walls are super thin and you can literally hear everything happening. We were in room 5 and you can hear the main area very clearly, the outside sounds are also super loud, and you can hear noises and talking from the rooms on both sides. The main bed/mattress in the room is also extremely old and makes a lot of sound when you move around. It seems the furniture is also from the 16th century as well. The pillows are very uncomfortable. The worst part of the experience was dealing with the male staff Mario. What a rude and unpleasant person he is. I kindly went to ask for earplugs and to let him know that the mattress or bed was broken and makes tons of sounds, he immediately became defensive and speaking loudly and rudely at me, basically shouting that I am the first person to complain about this and that I can go and read the reviews that no one complains. He also said he doesn’t have earplugs because they don’t need to have those since there is no noise issues been reported in the past. He was clearly lying about that or perhaps can’t read since there are plenty of reviews that note the noise problems and terrible mattresses. I could actually hear someone throwing up one morning from the room next to ours and another night was woken up by the door being slammed from another one of the hotels rooms. For the price you pay for the rooms, you’d think they would use some of that money to update their beds, mattresses and pillows. Hopefully they will make some changes to make their guests more comfortable and provide Mario with some basic training on customer service.
