Just outside the city center, the Metropole would be great for a business trip but in our case it was great for our family of 8 people. Really great staff that were super hospitable and competent. Rooms were probably a 4+ but the location and shuttle service to the train station makes up for any inefficiency of staying away from the center city. Restaurant and bar were lively and the Executive Lounge had great views of the Florence City Center. Would definitely recommend based on the affordability, comfort and value overall.

“Great hotel with friendly staff”
A warm Hilton welcome, very friendly staff. Clean and comfortable rooms with fluffy towels and the usual amenities Minibus that takes you to the nearest tram stop was a life saver as the hotel is a little way out of the city Bring your swim suit as the whirlpool is heaven after a day on your feet

The Hilton Florence Metropole is a decent hotel not far from FLR airport. The surrounding area does not present very well, nevertheless we always felt safe. We reserved a standard king bed room and received a complimentary upgrade to a “nicer” king bed room. Nicer I guess because it was a corner room with a “better view” but not much else was different to the standard king bed room. The common areas are beautifully decorated and well maintained. Front Desk staff were always informative and helpful. The Executive Lounge, with indoor and outdoor seating, always had snacks, drinks, and small bites available throughout the day. We had dinner in the restaurant there and it was just ok. Not bad but also not very good. The servers, though, were very attentive and friendly. We did take advantage of the complimentary shuttle provided and were dropped off at the local train stop, just across the street from a mall. When we returned later that evening, I called the hotel to let them know we were back at the same drop-off location, but we still had to wait about 40 minutes for the driver to pick us up. Not a major inconvenience, until the rain started falling. Thankfully it was very light rain but there’s no place to seek shelter at that drop-off location. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in Florence but will definitely stay somewhere else if we do return. As for the local train, it was very easy and inexpensive. About €1.70 per person each way, and it took us straight to the main station, Santa Maria Novella (S.M. Novella) where we enjoyed walking around, visiting the Duomo, and stopping for a most enjoyable lunch then gelato.

Just returned from a 5 night stay. The lobby/bar/restaurant and second floor appear to have been recently refreshed but the guest rooms are pretty shabby by Hilton standards. The poorly-designed nightstands are incredibly low relative to the bed, and they're glass. An accident waiting to happen. Mattress/bedding were good. Room was furnished with a coffee maker, slippers, large soap/shampoo/lotion dispensers and the A/C was without issue in mild autumn weather. I can't comment on the executive lounge, which looks really dated in the photos, because I was denied an upgrade despite availability. This property gives little recognition to Hilton Honors members. I was even hassled when getting bottled water, which is a benefit. The front desk staff was consistently aloof in contrast to the friendly, earnest staff in the breakfast room. The morning spread included an ample selection. The shuttle van was always at the ready and the trams were frequent so the distance wasn't a big inconvenience. A taxi from SMN station at 10:30 pm was 19 euros on the meter but 28 after a surcharge was tacked on.
