The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the main train station. It's about a seven minute walk to the Parco delle Cascine. The hotel occupies the city block by itself; it is not connected to other buildings. The room was quite small but well-appointed. The bathroom was quite stylish, with a clear sink. The breakfast buffet was extensive, with juices, fruits, eggs, and meat. I found the hotel staff a bit cold, however. Upon check in I was asked if I wanted to pre-pay for breakfast at a lower rate than I would pay if I just walked into the restaurant. Why would hotels treat guests like that? The check in staff was efficient, but I wouldn't describe then as welcoming. There are probably better options that are closer to city attractions, but this hotel had a good rate.

We stayed here for two nights and while the hotel is a typical AC Hotel under the Marriott brand, the service was very disappointing. With the exception of the young man who checked us in (regrettably I did not get his name), the staff at the hotel either seemed bored with their job or was borderline rude. We had a few questions about the local area and other typical tourist type things, and the response we received was always just the bare minimum - hardly with any interest than to answer it with as little enthusiasm as possible. The worst service experience came when we checked out - Carlotta was the staff who checked us out. She barely said one word to us, basically processed the payment and that was it. She was talking to her colleagues, made very little eye contact, did not bother to ask how our stay was or the usual "thank you", etc. We were not expecting to be treated with anything special or as VIPs, but they seemed utterly disinterested in their guests. The service aside, our room was spacious and the property itself is nice, which redeemed our experience overall. The gym is small and the breakfast buffet was average. Whilst not located in the old town centre where the Duomo and most of the tourist attractions are, we enjoyed being a little out of the town centre and more in the residential area. Florence is small, and very walkable, so we walked everywhere. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk to the old town centre so it's close enough to the main sights, but not amongst the hustle and bustle of where most of the tourists are. It's also much cheaper than the hotels in the town centre, so this is something worth considering.
