very interesting little hotel in the old part of town. The building is very old still boasting wooden floors and high wooden ceiling. Nice decoration and furniture in the public spaces, even a piano, it had in essence the atmosphere of an old noble house. Fits with the name. The room was spacious, had a walk in closet. Amenities full as expected. Only that the bathroom in our room happened to be disabled equiped though we didn't ask for it. I dont't know if they all are so. The staff was very helpfull, polite and pleasant. Lastly the breakfast was excellent. I highly recommend it.

This is a beautiful property, a restored palazzo, just a few steps from the Ferrara Cathedral and the main walking street, with many shops and restaurants, museums, town squares and access to all of historic Ferrara within walking distance. Another few steps past the cathedral takes you to the incredible Castello Estense, an impressive medieval castle and, along with the Cathedral, the focal point of the historic downtown. The hotel is very comfortable, the rooms are modern and well-furnished, and the breakfast room is elegant, as is the lobby and elegant staircase (there is also an elevator). Our room opened onto the central courtyard, which is where the quietest rooms are, facing away from the street. It was well appointed and clean. The bathroom was clean and well equipped, with enough room for two people's equipment at the sink. The stall shower was clean and functioned well. The front desk staff was friendly and very helpful and hospitable. They made dinner reservations for us, arranged a cab when we were leaving. Most of the staff spoke English. Breakfast was plentiful and included eggs and bacon (unusual in Italy) along with toast, fresh baked pastries, a variety of fruit juices, do-it-yourself toast, hams, cheeses, cereals, and made to order cappucino and a variety of coffees and teas. We would be happy to stay at Corte Estense again and recommend it to travelers looking for a period hotel in a beautiful city.

Had been a 3 star hotel I would have given an higher mark but from such an hotel I expect really much more. Very central location in a quiet road and very welcoming staff at the reception. The room was not perfectly clean or maybe it was just old. I had a room set for handicap people: the flush of the toilet didn’t work and I had to call the guy at the reception. He said that they had problems before. With him everything was fine but I simply couldn’t make it work. Television was simply too small to be watched. Breakfast on the average...not the quality you expect from a 4 stars

This hotel is at the gates of the old city making it convenient for sightseeing. Also close to clusters of good restaurants. They have locked secure parking about 3 blocks away for a daily charge of 10 euros per day. Unfortunately our room was quite small and dark with only one narrow window. The staff were friendly and there was a relaxed atmosphere – the breakfast was average. In general I felt the staff could use more training as the organization was rather haphazard.
