“Best hotel and great value”

Best location in the heart of Cortina, on the pedestrian Main Street. Big spacious, super clean rooms, excellent breakfasts and a wonderful staff. Everyone was helpful and friendly but Lorenzo, the concierge, was the best! We had a great time at Hotel de la Post and Cortina.

The pros: We stayed in a Superior room, and it was a beautifully decorated, very spacious room and bathroom, with plenty of hanging and storage space for your things. We did not have an issue with the noise from the bar, which I was concerned about based on other reviews. From what one of the staff said, there are certain times of the year where there is music playing late. We enjoyed the ambiance of the bar area, which was quiet when we were there, and we enjoyed talking with the bartender, who was happy to tell us about the history of the hotel and its connection to Hemingway. The cons: there is a paid parking garage on the premises and a free parking lot for the hotel about a 2-minute walk away. However, the free parking lot is very confusing to find by car, and the directions and map they gave us when we checked in were not very helpful. Even after we'd found it the first time, the second time we had to park, we had to drive around for 30 minutes trying to get to it again. Other guests we talked to had the same issue. The parking lot is in a ZTL zone, which they failed to tell us in advance. Afterwards they explained "no camera, no problem", but it added to the stress our 1st time parking there. As best you can, try to get really good directions in advance. Perhaps if they can email it before you arrive, you could try to figure it out in advance. The bigger con for us was that breakfast was unfortunately our worst customer service experience of our recent two trips to Italy. We were so shocked by how both of the staff members working in the breakfast room acted. They told us to move from a table by the window because it was a table for 4, and there were only 2 of us. You can see from the photos that this is a very large dining room, and both of the days we were there, no more than 2-4 tables were ever occupied with no more than 4 people each. Both days the eggs were empty, and we were told they'd be right out, but they never came. We sat waiting for our coffee (which was in a carafe the employee was carrying around) for 15 minutes each morning, while we watched them both folding napkins and walking around the dining room straightening the tablecloths, etc, even after we'd asked if we could have some coffee. The 2nd day, my husband eventually walked across the street to a cafe to buy us coffee and bring it back. With 2 employees working and it being a self-serve buffet, and with so few guests there, it was just surprising. It ended up leaving us with a bad feeling about the hotel, which otherwise, we really liked.

“Great staff, too old hotel ...”

The staff for both hotel and restaurant are 5 stars... they're awesome... the hotel however it's very old... I had no way to control the heat in my room and was cold... the room also smelled of old cigarettes and there was no fridge... the worst part however was the old pipes... I could sm... more

I could smell it and was actually more pungent than the cigarette ...
