My husband had a business trip to Milan and we decided to tag on a day in Verona and then 3 days in Venice. I searched for a room overlooking the Grand Canal when we learned that it was the start of Carnavale, so we could see the boat parade from our room. There were only a few rooms left that met our criteria. I settled on one, but before I could book it, it was gone. Palazzo Barocci was the only other room I could find overlooking the canal, but this would hands down be my first choice should we ever return. The hotel itself is in an elegant building away from the tourist streets and in a quiet area. The Valporetto stop is literally on the doorsteps of the hotel. Our junior suite room was huge and well appointed, with ample storage. Our view of the boat parade could not have been more perfect and incredible. One evening we happened to walk by the hotel that was our first choice. It was near the Ponte di Rialto bridge and surrounded by hoards of tourists, load music, and mediocre restaurants. Clearly, fate intervened on our behalf when it came to the hotel booking.

The hotel is in a perfect location in Venice, right on the water. If you like taking the water taxis around they will pick you up right in front of the hotel, convenient. The hotel is in a perfect location in Venice, right on the water. If you like taking the water taxis around they will pick you up right in front of the hotel, convenient. I would say to be careful of certain restaurants that say they canter to tourists but in reality, they would rather not have you there. The experience was so bad I had forgotten the name of the place, sorry for that.

“Fantastic Grand Canal location”

We loved that this hotel was located right on the Grand Canal. Even though our room didn’t overlook the canal, we appreciated that a vaporetto (water bus) stop was right outside the front entrance. Our room was quiet and large enough for our belongings but was a bit too warm for us so we opened the windows for an hour or two each night before we turned in. Our bathroom has a few things to mention. The tub/shower required a large step up to enter and exit it which might be difficult for some. Also, the bath towels were stored on a very high shelf in the shower which was too high for some people. We hung up our towels for reuse each day, but housekeeping replaced them anyways. There was a pillow menu available, but we were happy with the ones provided in the room. We ate breakfast each morning at the restaurant buffet which had a good selection of cold items. Hot drinks and scrambled eggs only (no omelets) could be ordered from the waitress.
