“Great stay in a beautiful room with period furniture and an amazing view”

The first thing to say about our stay here for 5 nights was the fabulous room. We had previously emailed the hotel to see if we could get one of the 2 corner rooms and was able to book 206. The amazing view of the island of San Giorgio Maggiore right in front and then the Basillica Santa Maria della Salute off to the right was extraordinary. That and the amazing hubbub outside on an almost continual basis. The thing to know is that the hotel is right beside many water bus and ferry terminals (you can go almost anywhere if you just work it out and get a actv pass. Oh, the airport AliLaguna also leaves from a quay there, so easy). That, and the fact that the water is basically the street, so there are always bin/delivery/rubbish/whatever boats moving around, even at 7am. There is also the Ponte de la Pieta outside so there are thousands of tourists crowding past taking their pointless selfies. The hotel must be annoyed as an aluminium ramp has been installed over some of the steps so that makes it even noisier. Anyway, none of this bothered us as we live on a main road back home. It’s worth it for the view and watching the world go by. Just go for it. The hotel has a small rooftop bar which also has the view and the staff were very accommodating with serving us a snifter for bed, but be aware that it usually shuts at 10pm. It was a bit disappointing that no mineral water was provided in the room, so we had to buy it outside. We did not try the min-bar as there was no price list. The restaurant has not been open for some time, but that’s hardly an issue in Venice. They did book us in their sister hotel, Palazzo Stern, for dinner on the first night, but I wouldn’t recommend the restaurant as the food was very ordinary. On the first morning we had breakfast in the ground floor room, which is, quite frankly, not very nice. The breakfast is fine just not the room. This turned out to be a good thing as we phoned down for breakfast to be delivered to our room each morning and it duly arrived on a large tray. Who wouldn’t want to eat a leisurely breakfast with that view? We never did find a menu and just made our choices up on the hoof, but hot and cold choices are available, with a very nice omelette being one. The coffee pot is another thing entirely as it was awful, and we hope they improve it, as we’ll be back to check it out. A special mention for all of the staff from front-of-house to “bell boys” to the lady that ran the upstairs bar and the cleaners. All in all, a pleasure to visit.

“Great find!”

Dating back to the 1700's, this hotel offered more than we expected. Only being there for a day, and a tour scheduled at 8am, we were bit able to enjoy breakfast but it was offered. Yes, guests at Hotel Locanda Vivaldi have highlighted that: Excellent position very close to all the interesting places and the buzz of the place, coffee/wine bars, restaurants all around. It is situated corner to one of the side canals, so the water taxi stops you right outside a private side entrance into the hotel. I loved that! The Albergo itself was a beautiful, quaint, classic hotel…….you could almost feel the history of the place. The room not too big but had everything you need. The bathroom too. Very clean and room service efficient. Staff polite, friendly and helpful. I loved it and as the weather was quite changeable during the days we were there, it was easy to keep going to the hotel to change accordingly.
