“Nice place to stay”

Don't go by some of the bad reviews. It's a beautiful old hotel with character. Don't go by some of the bad reviews. It's a beautiful old hotel with character. The continental breakfast had lots of choice, coisants, plain or with kam in, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, rolls,french toast, jams, ham,cheese,turkey 4or 5 choices of cereals, mixed fruit, yoghurt. Juice and various types of coffee and tea. Its ideally situated to walk or get a water bus pass and jump on right outside and get absolutely anywhere in venice and the islands. Yes they could make more use of the garden as its nice to sit in before getting washed and changed before going out in the evening. Our room was on the 1st floor overlooking the canal and taxi stop so perfect had a fridge in. Staff were lovely and polite, helpful and friendly. The only negative thing I would say is there is definitely not a bar in the hotel which if I'm honest was a main reason for booking but I bought some drinks and kept it in the room. Also could do with some tea/coffee facilities in the room. Bit other than that it's a lovely place to stay.

I was really worried about staying here as booked without really looking into this hotel and read the reviews after which were mostly bad. The room was in an outbuilding on the ground floor and was really nice much to my surprise. The reception staff were all really helpful and leaving the key whenever we went out was not a problem at all as we didn’t have to worry losing it. When we returned we never had to wait to get the key the service was really good. The garden isn’t like the pictures it is a small run down garden with a shed with no lock in to leave cases although we were grateful of somewhere to leave the luggage. Breakfast was limited but enough to get you through until lunch. My biggest and only complaint is that on the day we were leaving we sat in reception for a while waiting to get our transport back to the airport and we watched the old man that works there packing the breakfast away. The breakfast has a tree of large dishes with granola, cereal etc he was putting in his in the bowls and shovelling it into his mouth from almost every bowl then covering with cling film and putting in a cupboard ready to top up and put back out again the following day. This made me feel sick!

“Only for very fit people.”

Unfortunately we were given a room on the 3rd floor. There were 6 flights of narrow stairs to climb with our suitcase. We were very breathless when we reached our room. Unfortunately we were given a room on the 3rd floor. There were 6 flights of narrow stairs to climb with our suitcase. We were very breathless when we reached our room. The cleaner tried to help us with our heavy case. The room was like an attic room. I had to bend down to walk around. It was 23 degrees outside the room was stifling. We asked staff if we could move rooms but they were full. We asked if they could fix the air conditioning. But were told it doesn't come on till May. We arrived 29/4/24. We left 2/5/24 the air conditioning never worked. The room was clean. The staff were nice. The cleaning lady was lovely. On our last morning the lady on reception was very helpful trying to contact our water taxi firm. It was unfortunate we had so many stairs to climb and were very hot when in the room.
