We spent a few nights in February with the family (2 rooms). The rooms were basically ok, but there were some issues that should be taken care of. First, the rooms were extremely HOT. When I asked about air conditioning, I was advised to open the window, because AC was not operational. Which I did, but that resulted to another problem: the air outside was very polluted and caused me troubles breathing. Wall to wall carpet in the room did not help either. The bathroom had a good size and the water pressure was great. There were 2 bad things in the bathroom though. There was nowhere to hang more towels than only one. When you have 2 people staying in the room, it is obviously not enough. Second, there was no shower curtain, so when taking a shower it sprayed the whole bathroom floor wet. Breakfast was basic but adequate. Some people from the breakfast room staff were eager to assign a place to sit for you. You were not able to choose a table on your own. From the hotel there was a great bus connection to Venice. The bus was usually pretty crowded though. The reason was that the bus went past the Fincantieri shipyard and it was used by the shipyard workers. There was a Lidl store and an Ali supermarket both within a walking distance, but opposite directions. If you get tired of italian cuisine, there is a chinese restaurant next door.

This hotel is not actually on Venice Island. But is in a central location in Maestre. Great amenities available to eat. I spent my 2 days going back and forth to Venice exploring the island. 1 lovely evening meal and 2 breakfasts served. Great compliments to cooks. Noisey room. Struggled with sorting the air conditioning . 2 small lifts. They struggled with 2 large groups arriving at the same time. Hints : * if in doubt call the help desk or reception * hot water required go the bar no jug in room * lots of stores available but only if you are back from Venice before they close

“Do your research first...”
Okay, I share the blame for this, but it's a little misleading on booking.com because the hotels name being Hotel Sirio Venice, and stating it is 0.3km from the centre led me to believe I was in the heart of Venice, but it's 0.3km to the centre on Mestre, a superb approximately 10 km from the islan… more
Okay, I share the blame for this, but it's a little misleading on booking.com because the hotels name being Hotel Sirio Venice, and stating it is 0.3km from the centre led me to believe I was in the heart of Venice, but it's 0.3km to the centre on Mestre, a superb approximately 10 km from the island. Paid €30 each time I got a taxi, but as I say, if you read the details, the info is there. Otherwise, the hotel is fine. It offers basic breakfast, but no dinner. The room was fine, though could do with being painted and bed was comfortable. All in all, it was fine, but I would do my research before booking.
