The hotel is ideally situated within 3 walking minutes from the Rialto bridge and st Marks square. The hotel itself is suberp and elegantly decorated. Breakfast in the dining room was good quality. The staff very helpful and reception Marco couldn't of been more helpful. Wouldn't have been such a perfect weekend without his advice and useful tips. You will need your walking shoes for this trip. So much to see and do. We took the water bus around the area. Port just near st Mark's square. A 1 1/2 trip on water for €9.50 each such a bargain. Food was plentiful so many restaurants to choose from. Definitely come back to this well placed friendly hotel

The Hotel Canaletto is the perfect spot to base out of in Venice - close to both Saint Mark's and the Rialto Bridge, and great shopping and dining. Our rooms were spectacular (we even had views of the canal), and very comfortable. And the staff was very helpful and attentive. We would absolutely stay there again. This hotel is a great value.

We stayed here for 3 nights in September, the hotel was reasonably easy to find following their directions from the Rialto Bridge, and was very well positioned for walking to both the Rialto area and San Marco area. The room was nicely done, and the bed and pillows very comfortable. The breakfast room was a bit small and crowded but there was a good selection of food items available. Staff members were pleasant and helpful. We booked the Alilaguna boat for our journey from the airport to Venice. This does not guarantee you a place at any given time, so on arriving at the dock, we found there were too many people waiting for the first boat and we had to wait 35 minutes for the next, and only just made it onto that one. It then took an hour to get to the Rialto Bridge. This influenced our decision to take a private water taxi (the option that is considerably more expensive but considerably quicker and very much more fun) back to the airport - the gentleman on reception booked this for us. We were a party of 4 and agreed that it was worth every euro! We didn’t pre-book any entrance tickets. We found that the queues were very long for the Basilica before it even opened in the morning but we found that around 3.30, we only had to queue for a few minutes - this is unmissable, and do make sure to go up to the museum, see the original ‘four horses’, and go out onto the terrace. Strangely, we got straight into the Doges’ Palace (equally unmissable) just after 9am but noticed in the afternoon that the queue was long. The queue for the Campanile didn’t seem too long at any time. Maybe we were just lucky. The vaporetto is a great way to travel on the Grand Canal and gaze at the buildings. We also took the vaporetto to Murano - don’t get off at the first stop - you need to get off at Colonna - no-one told us this and we had to wait for another boat. Although initially resistant to a gondola ride (because in some locations they just seem to go in a convoy, one after another, very impersonal), we did eventually do this and loved it - we went to a quiet location and had a lovely individual ride. At one point, to our surprise, Piazza San Marco slowly flooded, with water seeping up through vents. This appeared to be expected because raised walkways appeared, allowing a dry crossing of the piazza. It was dry again the following day. We were totally entranced by Venice, this being our first time of actually staying there. Yes, it was a bit crowded in some places, but this was expected and we just went with it. The hotel was in a quiet location so we returned to peace every night. Don’t hesitate to visit!

Hotel has a really good restaurant next door where we ate twice during our three night stay. Friendly welcome and all staff were helpful. Very good breakfast with variety of food available. Room didn't really have enough space to store clothes and there were not very good charging points for phojes… more
