We just spent a lovely week at Union Lido. This is our first time visiting this campsite. We are a family of 5, kids aged 14, 12 and 9, and have already visited Bella Italia and Sanguli so our expectations were high. We arrived late in the evening at about 11pm in Marco Polo airport. As it was so late I had prebooked a transfer from the airport to the campsite. We booked with Airport Taxi transfers and the driver was waiting at the arrivals area when we got there so it was a smooth transition from the airport to the campsite. When we reached the campsite it was after 12 o clock and the main reception was opened. We checked in swiftly and gave the receptionist our passports and were told to come down the next morning to get our id bracelets. They then gave us the keys to our mobile home and transported us in a buggy car to the front door. We were were staying in Hu Excellence mobile home for the week as we booked through Huopenair. It was small and compact but perfect for a family of 5. We had a nice outdoor terrace with sunbeds and a dining table and it was central enough to all the activities. The next morning we met our huopenair rep and she went through things with us. We went to reception and got our id braclets so we were all set up. Our passports were kept in the office for the week but we knew this beforehand and we were told to collect them on our last day and then to pay the tourist tax. The campsite itself is very large, two impressive pool complexes. We loved the aqua laguna park as there were loads of slides here so the kids were kept busy. The only downside to this pool was the lack of sun loungers and the sand everywhere around the park. We bought a big towel in one of the shops so this made it a little more comfortable but there was sand everywhere as a result, all over you and in the mobile home. The other pool area had a youger kids activity area, a big swimming pool and a lazy pool but again very little sun loungers. There was grass around this pool complex so it was a little more comfortable. Beach bars at both pool complexes so you could get food/ drinks and icecream at ease. Union lido has its own private beach and has many entry points. if you like to run in the mornings this is the place to go as it is quiet and you can run all along the beach and back again. You can also rent sun loungers at the beach anytime you wish and pay in the cash office at the end of your trip. Loads of nice beach bars and restaurants along the beach so was nice to pop in and unwind with a drink. We also went to the wellness centre for 2 mornings of our stay. This was so relaxing and family morning was from 10am to 1pm. Here you could relax in the spa pools and there was plenty of sun loungers around the area. Not too busy either and was definitely worth the 35 euros per morning. Food and drink was lovely, a lot of places to choose from as there is loads of bars and restaurants on site. Reasonably priced as well and a good variety of food on the menus. Staff were friendly and helpful and service was fast. Funny world is also there and my kids loved this, went there every evening to go on the rides and there was an arcade there as well. We also did the mini golf which was enjoyable. Night time entertainment could be improved. In the week that we were there there was only one show and then a band at the beach bar 2 nights and a karoke another night. Last orders are at 11pm so everything shuts down early. Mosquitos - I usually get bit everywhere i go so I came prepared to this campsite after reading all the mosquito reviews. i took antihistamines 2 months before travel, put lavendar oil in my shower gel and shampoo, wore the bracelets and sprayed myself with DEET spray every evening. I got bit 2 nights out of 7 which is fairly impressive for me. I had a zapper to treat these bites so they healed up quickly. My advise is to come prepared if you are prone to mosquito bites. Some people in the campsite were covered with bites so I was lucky. We got the bus in to town one morning but nothing much here so would not recommend. We did not have time to visit Venice so next time we come we will do this. All in all we had a lovely week. My kids loved it and want to go back again next year. For such a big campsite they should add more sun loungers to the pool areas and improve the night entertainment. These are the only areas that I was not happy with but in saying this we will definitely visit this campsite again

We had a great holiday in Union Lido. We stayed with HuOpenair and the mobile was very clean and well equipped. We found it to be quite small for 5 people however. The campsite itself was spotless clean and all facilities were very well maintained. Pools were great. Sunloungers were free of cost at the Marina pool but available for a fee at the Aquapark Laguna and on the beach. Most people in the Aquapark just set up on the sand so there was never an issue looking for a sunbed or space in the sand. Slides were great. We ate in all of the restaurants and found the food and service good. There are two supermarkets on site among other shops and services. We hired bikes in Cavallino and would recommend the shop there - they had a much better selection of bikes compared to the camping market opposite the entrance to Union Lido. Entertainment was good and our kids enjoyed the clown, magic show and acrobat/music show in particular. Lots of other facilities for kids such as the inflatable park, speedy kart and funny world. All were charged separately and had to be paid for in cash. We found some of these things to be very expensive. The only thing that would stop me returning to this campsite would be the mosquitoes. They were everywhere and could be seen as soon as we got out of our taxi. Our whole family was covered in bites despite spraying ourselves regularly with deet and other mosquito repellents. The queue in the pharmacy was full of people buying antibiotic cream for infected bites and antihistamines. We took all necessary precautions (repellent, plugs, outdoor candles and incense, long sleeves etc) and still got eaten alive. The campsite does spray for mosquitoes but with all the greenery in the area it seems they are unavoidable. Overall a great holiday but do not go there if you suffer badly from bites.

Just back from a week at Union Lido. We had a great time, it's a really big campsite with plenty to do for everyone. The restaurants on site were all lovely with plenty of variety on every menu. Not overly expensive for food or drink, cheaper than Dublin. We stayed in a mobile home with human travel, it was very nice, clean and modern. There are 2 downsides to this campsite, one being there are not nearly enough sunbeds at the pool areas, despite having plenty of space to put One other big issue for us were the mosquitoes, not a fault of the campsite itself but it's a huge problem here. I've been to a number of different campsites before and been bitten but nothing compared to here unfortunately. Overall, it's a great holiday with plenty to do onsite for all ages but be sure to bring plenty of mozzie repellent!

Cosy, spacious areas, not overcrowded, safe. Nice beach, blue flag well deserved. Most advantages has already been noted by others, so I'll focus on the cons: More diplomacy wouldn't hurt. When someone tries their best to start conversation in Italian, it's not really polite to reply always in German. First I felt like responding "achtung, achtung, nicht schiessen!" but lost the funny vibe when that same repeated over and again. Finally I felt personally touched by the dry jokes at the disco, when speaker kept asking audience of all the German speaking countries one by one where they came frome and then he went directly to Australia and New Zealand, as if there were no other countries in between. Joke of the season, two evenings were not enough to repeat it for those who hadn't hear. Kids shared similar impressions from kids club, all the attention was on German speaking Kinderjugend, while some of these kids were particularly rude to the others and nobody ruled them. My kids really preferred not to go there at all. Last year they were to the club they were spoken in 3 languages at a time, including German and excluding their native one and they always returned cheerful and loved going there, so it's nothing personal but rather unequal care to the guests. To sum it up, we liked the place but we don't feel like returning due to the clear impression of being not the most expected clients.
