“Sinai is the best!”

The best thing about this hotel is Sinai! She checked us in and made sure we had everything we needed. Professional and kind! The second best thing is the dining staff especially the maitre d’hotel whose name I forget. A true gentleman. We enjoyed a great meal every evening. The disappointment of Alassio is they have removed all of the free beaches except at the very far end of town across the bridge. This is terrible for families with low income who want to enjoy the sea. The cost of 2 sunbeds and an umbrella is €60 per day. It simply is outrageous. How has this been allowed? The sea should be for everyone!

“Not a 4 stars hotel - expensive umbrella and no coffee machine”

We just arrived in Grand Hotel Mediterranée. We paid for 2 rooms - 3 nights for a stay end of July / beginning of August € 1,758, close to EUR 600 per night for 2 rooms. The hotel is quite well placed close to the beach. However we were informed just after the reservation (I repeat, after the reservation, no indication of the extra charge before) that we would need to pay EUR 60 per day for an umbrella (meaning, if we would take 2 for 2 rooms EUR 360 for 3 days + EUR 75 for 3 days parking - total EUR 435), we know it is quite common in Italy but quite a surprise anyway. If it would be a real 4 stars hotel up to the standard, it would still be ok. However it is not a 4 stars hotel, there was one small bottle of water in the room (for 2, not so generous), no coffee machine (quite disappointing, as we asked we were told that only the superior rooms at the 5th floor have a coffee machine), nothing really special. Staff is however nice but the management should make a special effort to make this hotel a real 4 stars hotel.

“Expensively Disappointing”

We stayed 4 nights in a Junior Suite. The room was adequate in size with a large comfortable bed and crisp white bed linens. The furniture was dated and in need of repair. The bathroom was adequate in size with clean fresh Towels but disappointingly there was no separate shower - it was over the bath. The Balcony was great with a fantastic view. We were given very little information about the Hotel and it’s services when we checked in. The Beach was across the road and we enquired at Reception about using the facilities and were told we needed a Ticket - we asked for a Ticket - it was written out and we were then told it was 25€ per day for the use of 2 loungers and an umbrella - an additional expense added to an already expensive room rate. Later we found out that if a Towel was needed it was 3€ per person per day - fortunately we had our own. The Beach attendant was surly and the Toilets and facilities dirty and the Bistro food was very poor. The Hotel staff generally whilst not rude were very abrupt. Breakfast was mediocre - and constantly the bread, pastries, meats and cheeses ran out and you had to then find someone and ask for replacements. The 3 macaroons given to us on departure were very tasty. Whilst we enjoyed our stay in Alassio we were extremely disappointed with this Hotel and as we travel frequently we can say we have paid significantly less money for significantly better accommodation, service, facilities and food so we will definitely not be returning.
