The staff were very friendly when we first checked in. The hotel gave us free fruit and snacks. While we looked around the room, there was no mini fridge although most hotels tend to have them. Even though they gave us a single duvet for a double bed, they fixed it kindly. Every night I slept, I fell asleep instantly. The bed is supa comfy unlike most hotels that i visited. In the morning, when we went downstairs for breakfast, the staff led u to a table and were kind and patient. The food is very good and there is a lot of choices for desserts and fruit too. I even tried a fruit that I never had and liked it! If you ever go to the garden room to eat at daytime, you wont be disappointed. It was quiet and the fountain was fascinating to look at. Our hotel room was outdated a little bit because the heater didn't work in our room but that was it. The bathroom was clean and the staff had left body lotion, conditioner, etc. The lovely cleaners came in everyday and replaced teas, tidied up everything. Thank you.

“Only ok”

Night in Dublin to visit our middle son in UCD. The location is great with just a 10 minute walk to the college campus. We had wanted to treat our son to a nice dinner in the hotel but knew we’d be arriving late. I emailed the hotel a couple of days before to let them know we’d be arriving 9/9:30… more

Night in Dublin to visit our middle son in UCD. The location is great with just a 10 minute walk to the college campus. We had wanted to treat our son to a nice dinner in the hotel but knew we’d be arriving late. I emailed the hotel a couple of days before to let them know we’d be arriving 9/9:30 and confirm we could still get dinner in the restaurant. When we checked in at 9:25 we were told the restaurant wasn’t serving any more and the only option was to get room service. I asked if we could get room service food to one of the many open lobby and bar areas, so we could be social and have a drink while eating, but this was refused. So the three of us sat round a tiny table in our room - a bit sad, and would have been easily accommodated downstairs. The hotel was grand once, but rooms and breakfast area are looking very dated and a bit grubby. Sink in room wouldn’t drain, which I really don’t like as the cleaning staff would know and should fix. Great location for the college but could and should be much better on service and upkeep.

“Just an ok experience”

For the price, this old hotel needs improvement in its service and is in need of an upgrade. The telephone lines were down, WiFi slower than speed of turtle and room heating was running like an engine all night
