Due to delay planning on my trip I wound up here instead of the Maldron Hotel on Parnell Square. The good news is that it's close to several bus lines that will take you into downtown Dublin - or you could walk if you wanted to - it's not actually that far away. Check-in was easy enough, and when I got to my room I did notice a distinct smell in the room - not necessarily unpleasant, but just existing in the room. The room seemed okay enough, but when I went to put my bag on the chair, I noticed that it had certainly seen its fair share of days as it showed significant wear. Unfortunately after that, the small things got more noticeable. This was the first hotel I've seen that doesn't include the small square-ish hand towels that you would use in the shower. I was then puzzled why then they would include body wash for the shower if they didn't prove the towels. Then the shower was actually the same kind as another hotel I stayed at on my trip, but (1) it was a regular shower instead of a rainfall shower, which meant (2) with the open walk-in shower similar to my stay at the Thompson Hotel in Washington D.C. that meant that water would splash onto the bathroom floor every time I took a shower. And finally (3) the wand showerhead when turned on also had seen better days as the holes either as the stream was not uniform or in the same direction (so I didn't use it). Finally, as I was getting some work done before bed, I went to lean back against the head rest and then the bed started moving away from the wall! Turns out that the bed had rollers on them, and all but one were on discs that prevented the bed from moving, but one was enough for the bed to move about. And so the addition of these things together left a much-to-be-desired impression of the room. The bed itself was fine though so if you need a decent enough place to sleep so there's not like red flags waving about to not stay here. And the staff from the front desk to the restaurant were comfortable to deal with. Probably if they just replaced the chairs and made sure the showers properly work in the rooms, I think most people wouldn't start making notes about the small stuff.

I’m afraid at best I’d describe this hotel as just average. Our room had no view or aircon it looked on to a block of apartments and the noise from these was 24 hours a day very noisy when residents returning late at night. I’m afraid at best I’d describe this hotel as just average. Our room had no view or aircon it looked on to a block of apartments and the noise from these was 24 hours a day very noisy when residents returning late at night. We had to have our windows open because the room was unbelievably warm even in November with the rads turned off. Infact this hotel had zero soundproofing you could literally hear your neighbours snoring, chatting and using the toilet. And the clip clop of shoes in the rooms above starting at 06:30 all 3 mornings. Meant we got very little sleep. We had our daughter in with us yet the room was only setup for 2. 2 cups, 2 waters etc… very limited towels so had to all share one large one little on the first night. Breakfast looked unappealing so didn’t bother. The cafe over the road was very nice. For me this hotel is just too far out and in a bit of a scruffy area. Not helped by Halloween kids firing fireworks at each other down the street. So not for us. My son was in room 126 this was unbelievable his view was stepladders and a brick wall you could literally touch out of the window.

“Weight and measure need to pay a visit”

Stayed Maldron with friends recently, the hotel was grand for an overnight stay, check in was efficient , rooms were okay and breakfast was alright. Our issue was the bar, the area was not busy and there was 2 staff on duty , bar staff were inefficient , no table service , tables not cleared etc t… more

Stayed Maldron with friends recently, the hotel was grand for an overnight stay, check in was efficient , rooms were okay and breakfast was alright. Our issue was the bar, the area was not busy and there was 2 staff on duty , bar staff were inefficient , no table service , tables not cleared etc the drinks were definitely short measures , we were all drinking spirits and watched the barman pour from a shot glass not a calibrated measure when we questioned the measure which should be 35ml he retorted that’s the measure we use .Weights and measures need to pay a visit as paying guests are being short changed
