“Our Dromhall experience”

We were very happy with our return visit to Dromhall in beautiful Killarney. Staff were very friendly and very helpful and the food was excellent. We had a lovely spacious bedroom. Leisure facilities were excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

“Good price and walking distance to centre of Killarney town”

The price of our stay was very reasonable. I presume it was cheaper because the pool/spa is closed at the moment. The hotel is in a great location, just outside the town but within walking distance. The room was nice and comfortable. Bathroom was a bit outdated. Staff were very helpful and friendly

My wife and I recently spent two nights at the Dromhall Hotel in Killarney, Ireland. The hotel was included as part of a Gate1 tour of Ireland, so I can’t comment on the room rate. The hotel is on Muckross Road, about a ten-minute walk from the action in downtown Killarney. Numerous pubs and stores are in the area. As an additional plus, the hotel is near the Killarney Jaunting Car stables - we booked their tour of the Killarney National Park and were picked up and returned directly to the hotel. The lobby is sort of grand area with high ceilings, a grand staircase and chandeliers. There are some seating areas. Check-in was expedited and handled by Gate1. After staying in several boutique contemporary hotels on our tour of Ireland, we were pleasantly surprised by our room (304). It was fairly spacious and traditionally decorated. The decor was a bit dated, but comfortable - I would describe it as cozy Irish country cottage. There was no closet, but an armoire with some drawers, a safe and coffee/tea fixings. TIP: one wall of our room was on the other side of the elevator area. While not extreme, I could hear the elevator rumbling now and then. If you’re a light sleeper, you may want to request a room further away from it. Furniture in the room included two wing chairs around a round table. Also a desk with chairs. And a flat screen TV above the desk. Our room came with a king-size bed and four pillows. It was flanked with night stands, lamps and USB ports in the walls; there also were reading lights in the ceiling. The bed was quite comfortable. The bathroom was nicely sized with generous counter space. A hair dryer was provided. Your Tenderness hand soap was on the counter. TiP: At first we thought there was something wrong with the toilet, but after a visit to the reception desk we were informed that a vigorous push down on the toilet lever was necessary in order to achieve an adequate flush! There was a (narrow) tub/shower combination - there wasn’t much side-to-side maneuvering room. Water pressure and temperature were fine. Wall-mounted bottles of Your Tenderness hand & body wash & shampoo and Your Hair Care Hair Conditioner were provided. TIP: As is common in Europe, the bottom of the tub is a few inches above the floor, making exiting the tub awkward. Breakfast was included with our room and was served in the restaurant off the main lobby. A full selection of cold and hot selections were offered. Surprisingly, there were no hot items actually on the buffet - you had to order them from a limited menu, which did have an adequate selection. One minor irritation was the layout of the buffet line. Banquette seating paralleled the cold buffet line, resulting in funneling everyone into one narrow line - if anyone stopped to mull over the selections, the line basically came to a halt. A bit irritating if you didn’t want a bread item and just wanted to go directly to the fruit or visa versa. In spite of these minor annoyances, we truly enjoyed our stay at the Dromhall Hotel and would recommend it to anyone looking for overnight accommodations in Killarney. A lovely stay. Comfortable bed. Really nice breakfast with lots of choice. Great location, a short walk in to town.
