We stayed for 4 nights over Christmas. Two children 7 & 4 We were excited but a little apprehensive about staying in a hotel over Xmas. And after staying in Newpark we will struggle to go back to a conventional Christmas. Staff were all lovely and helpful. Food was lovely. Kids club was great. The entertainment was perfect. Jurassic New park is wonderful. The pool was perfect as it has a small pool for non swimmers. They've thought of everything & created a nice magical experience especially for children. We have booked to go back for our children's birthdays at their request. and hope to go back next Christmas. Like every busy establishment at Christmas there was one or two issues which were dealt with promptly by Aga who is extremely good at her job. We are all looking forward to returning

“Extremely busy hotel”

Room was beautiful. Hotel very attractive decor etc. However the hotel was so very busy, and we felt every bit of it everywhere we went. It was not a particularly relaxing atmosphere. Room was beautiful. Hotel very attractive decor etc. However the hotel was so very busy, and we felt every bit of it everywhere we went. It was not a particularly relaxing atmosphere. The pool was also a little too deep for a family pool we felt. All familes left to crowd around up in the shallow end which only added to the madness in the area. Overall left feeling underwhelmed for the price.

I hate writing this review because we have been coming here since my son (now 11) was a baby and this was our third visit to the hotel in the last 12 months but to be honest this post Xmas stay wasnt the best. Absolutely crazy queues for everything even pre booked dinners with no coordination seeming to happen re clearing tables etc. Husband and an older gentleman left waiting at the bar to be served for a crazy time as 4 young bartenders were having a chat. Small thing but we are returning guests who have come a lot and spent a lot of money in this hotel in the last twelve months. Some friendly acknowledgement or welcome back at reception in a four star hotel wouldnt have gone astray (we were last there only about six weeks prior!) The main issue really was around the food service which was just appalling and way below par for a four star hotel and the prices being charged. The food itself is average at best which is fine. We thought that in the past but its not a major deterrent given the atmosphere and decent kids menu but the total chaos this time around was new. In the terrace bar it seemed impossible to get an order right or have food come together. Sandwiches coming out toasted when not ordered that way and when you said it waitresses looking at you blankly and offering no solution...but still charging you extra for the toasted sandwich on the bill. Drinks arriving 20 mins before or after food. Requests having to be made three or four times. At breakfast i had to wait 30 mins for toast. This was after asking three separate waiters. In the end i got one that i dont even think was meant for me from a fourth waiter. My breakfast was gone at that stage. The worst point though was dinner in the bar. After nearly 90 mins we still hadn't received our main course and keeping the children sitting there hungry that long was pretty challenging. Seeing all those around me who arrived forty mins after us getting served suggested we had been forgotten. I called over what looked like a supervisor (in a suit) and explained we were still waiting on our meal. He said he would check. He came back and said it wouldnt be long. Absolutely no acknowledgement or apology or explanation. Zero. So over an hour and a half after sitting down we finally got food but even at this stage struggled to wave someone down to get forks and ketchup for the kids. The meal cost over 140 euros so its really not great. To be honest when we come back from this hotel we usually look at booking the next break straight away. I dont feel like that this time which is sad. It sort of seems like all the staff are teenagers with no one running the show or coordinating anything. There are loads of staff on but they all seem to be just running around not quite sure what they are supposed to be doing at any given time.

This was my third time staying at the hotel with my family and have really enjoyed my previous experiences there but this time was disappointing. For the two nights we were at the hotel there were weddings on both days and another wedding being setup on the day we were leaving. It was hard to find tables in the reception/lobby area with wedding parties taking the space. At times the bar was extremely busy with wedding guests making it hard to even get a table. When we eventually managed to get a table/booth we found people from the wedding party surrounding it and even trying to sit at the table with us because of the lack of tables making it hard to even get out from the table/booth. The terrace area where food and drink is served was also off-limits for hotel guests on one of the evenings because of a wedding BBQ going on. One thing to note with the terrace area is that the lunch menu is very limited for food options. On our previous stays I’ve had Guinness on draft from the bar and it was absolutely terrible. On this occasion I tried it again hoping that things may have improved but sadly they hadn’t so had to switch drinks. Spoke to a couple of other guests who were also of the same opinion that the Guinness on draft was terrible. One person even switched to bottled Guinness. The breakfast itself wasn’t great. The hot food is served by a chef at a hot buffet counter which resulted in long queues. It would have been easier and quicker for everyone if people could take a plate and pick the hot items themselves. Most of the hot items were underwhelming and the two times I asked for poached eggs they were over cooked. Another family member also noticed that their sausages were under cooked even looking a bit raw. The coffee was also undrinkable. At times the evening meals also took a long time to be served which I’m assuming may have been a knock-on effect from the weddings. Seems that weddings are the main priority for the hotel with hotel guests having to work around these. It's a shame because other areas of the hotel are great like the dinosaur park, kids club and spa with friendly staff who are trying their best. Improvements needed.
