This hotel is lacking in many areas and there needs to be some serious improvements in staff training and awareness. But I must add, the staff for the most part are exceptional in terms of willingness to help and effort put in, but there is some serious holes in their abilities to get the job done and this is down to poor senior management, not the front line staff. It is a really nice hotel, but lacks certain finishing touches, such as bed linen, it really is one of the worst hotels I have stayed in for bed linen, real low quality stuff, they need to change their supplier, horrible quality, this lets the hotel down no end, its all about attention to details For sure he worst pillows ever in a hotel I have experienced, again these are cheap and nasty, bottom of the rack pillows, zero comfort, for sure to worst pillows I have ever experienced in any hotel and I have stayed in some dumps in my time. The rooms also have no mini fridges, so the water they soppy you by the time the morning comes around, the water becomes lukewarm, for the money they charge per night, not having room fridges is just not on. Note to Manager - get the bed linen and pillows sorted out fast and minifridges!!! Pub grub, pretty terrible, on my last stay, in seemed like everything is a 'microwave' special, it was pretty poor quality, first meal was tempura prawns very, very average, the next night I decided to eat out, lots of very nice restaurants in town, then I had a second meal in the restaurant, it was inedible, real school dinner quality, this time I sent it back. After that I did not take anymore evening meals or lunches in the hotel, really disappointing. I was informed that they were undergoing some refurbishment work, but to me no excuse for poor quality food. The breakfast, well its hard to mess up a breakfast - and to be fair its a pretty good spread - really good staff, excellent service, nothing was a problem. The Spa service was a bit disappointing, full body massage - have to say the worst I have ever had - not impressed at all. I think the spa is primarily set up for weddings, and the like, not really a spa in the true sense of the word, but again lovely people just lacking experience. The pool and gym, very very busy, could do with turning up the heat in the pool, went once water way too cold, but it is a good set up and up to date equipment, probably the best part of the hotel Front desk manager, top guy, sorted out problems very quickly. Would I stay again?? probably but it would not be my first choice in Kilkenny

“Nice hotel”

We have just returned after a 2 night stay and we found the hotel perfect for our needs .My partner had to go to work which was only a 5 minute drive away leaving me to enjoy the amazing jacuzzi etc and it was only a short walk into Kilkenny town which was great .The hotel is a 4 star but I would s… more

We have just returned after a 2 night stay and we found the hotel perfect for our needs .My partner had to go to work which was only a 5 minute drive away leaving me to enjoy the amazing jacuzzi etc and it was only a short walk into Kilkenny town which was great .The hotel is a 4 star but I would say as far as food goes it's 5 star the food is amazing that's why we had lunch and dinner in it on both nights we stayed .The reason I can't give it a five stars is because the room definitely doesn't meet the expectations of the rest of the hotel it definitely needs updated .The room was clean enough apart from stains on the carpet and tissues lying on the floor from previous guests apart from that it was comfortable and a decent size ,the one thing I will give it praise for was the powerful shower it was the best shower I think I have ever had .We would definitely go back but next time I would pay for a upgrade .I would also like to thank all the staff in the bar they were so lovely especially Philomena she was so nice and anything I asked for was never a problem even when i felt guilty ordering a pint of Guinness the poor woman had to go upstairs for it so thank you again Philomena and if I am being honest the receptionist staff should take a leaf out of Philomena's book I didn't find them helpful at all or maybe they couldn't understand my northern Ireland accent

Beautiful hotel, lovely funky decor. The staff are lovely and very friendly . Pool and leisure facilities were amazing. Great value for money. The only improvements needed bar food could be better, chicken dinner was a bit dry and felt it was just reheated. Restaurant food was better. Just the amb… more

Just the ambience was a bit lacking there...Also the bed slept hot.. duvet was very heavy and uncomfortable didn't get a great night s sleep
