We stayed here for my partners 60th birthday and had an amazing stay. Thank you for the birthday cake on arrival. The most beautiful location, close to Ubud centre but you could be miles away for the peace and tranquility you find here. Super helpful and friendly staff. Absolutely lovely room with additional touches like stories on the bed at night, a cookie jar and welcome treats and messages written on your morning coffee. Delicious breakfast choices. We had the best stay and highly recommend this hotel.

Small thoughtful gestures like remembering which fruits we loved and personalized touches like bed time stories encapsulation Bali culture were always appreciated. The property is located at such a great location. It's few minutes from busy streets but when inside it feels like a world of it's own nestled in nature and peace. We can't wait to come back. Thank you for making it a great experience!

I stayed here recently for 3 nights, in one of the studio rooms in the main block. There is no denying it - the room was amazing. It was huge, the bathroom was incredible, there was a massive balcony with swing chair, and there was a whole heap of complimentary snacks on arrival at the room. Staff are lovely and welcoming, and the place has a really peaceful sense of calm, especially considering the craziness of Bisma Street and the main street of Ubud at the end of it. The property looks out on rice fields. The pool is long and lovely for lap swimming. Decoration is lovely throughout. You can easily walk to Bisma Street and beyond, and there is a complimentary shuttle four times a day that will take you to the main sites of Ubud and then pick you up at the sister hotel near the Monkey Forest. There is also an afternoon tea of snacks, served in various locations around the hotel, and some activities at the same time although sometimes these didn't seem to happen. So, why haven't I given this lovely hotel 5 stars? Well, it isn't quite there. The hotel is set over many levels. You go in to the entrance at the 4th level. You can't wheel a suitcase from the car park into the reception because it is first gravel, and then a series of stepping stones over a water feature. Even if you go as far down in the lift as you can, there are still more steps down to the gym area and for there to the pool area and from there to the second pool etc etc. There is a sort of windy ramp, but it is not very well maintained. I had fallen in Uluwatu and hurt my knee before arriving in Ubud and the steps were a real pain. However, the main issue here is the dining room. It is very small, the staff are often feckless, and the food is very average (and expensive). At breakfast there is a grapple for the tables on the balcony overlooking the pool and people get gradually shifted from an indoor table, to a table slightly more near the balcony, and then on to the balcony. All this diverts the staff away from serving food, and service can be average at best. On the first day, my breakfast nor coffee arrived. There is a buffet for fruit and pastries, but the hot meals are all made to order. Everyone sort of looked confused when I asked where my breakfast was. Day 2 was better, and I was even offered extra fruits which were not on the buffet. Day 3 was back to poor service again, slow taking of the ordering, bemused looks all round. The man of day 2 had told me to ask for mango and mangosteen as they come from the kitchen. So I did. Oh no, they're all gone. But they weren't, because I saw several other people receive them after I had asked. None of this is a big deal, but as a woman travelling on my own, I often feel like I am invisible and people can't be bothered to serve me because I don't make enough noise of fuss. This is how I felt at the Bisma. The food was nice enough, but not spectacular, and didn't make me feel like I wanted to eat there at lunch and dinner. Next door to the Bisma is the Eight and next door to that is the Goya hotel. Both of these have amazing restaurants and when you step inside, there have the air of true 5 star hotels. The Komaneka needs to seriously up its game or it is going to lose out to these hotels. Again, I enjoyed my stay and for the price, the room was absolutely amazing. But I do think they can do better.
