It was awsome with all-wood decor, high ceiling and old-fashioned decor on the first floor of a heritage building. For lagoon view, one need to come to the common balcony. The view very nice. Had a backwater trip in the morning hours [chargeable].

Over all it was a great experience, all staff was supportive and especially Mr Vishnu was superb at pool area , he was expert in handling our entire trip , was always ready to help us with all sort of resort friendly tips along with explaining the glory and history of this resort , Mr Vishnu had won our hearts. A short trip from Munnar brought us to Kumarakom. Having stayed in a few properties in the past, the expectations were set high! The stay was good, some great spots of enjoyment, some definitive spots for betterment and some sore episodes (nothing to do with Taj ethos). I felt the reception is small and non-noticeable and so was the usual warmth on arrival. That was soon forgotten when Gayatri brought on Priya to the fore. She did explain the shortcomings that come alongwith a govt owned property being leased by Taj. The restaurant was great and the high tea is quite refreshing. Our group of six adults, have great tastebuds sans anything that borders above LESS SPICEY… Great challenge for the team, till Subin Meccheri, hand crafted the best items of our stay - Ulli theeyal and Cabbage Thoran.. Out of the world and dot on “ Low spice”. Heaven on earth! Vin Pugal, a known face of our 2022-stay at Kovalam made our last day stay comfortable and allowed us to overstay for a couple more hours . Exit of one of our team leaving early on the last day to catch his flight to San Francisco had to literally witness and be a mute spectator to the Union-activism that compelled him to use the local cab to Airport, priced 50% more than the app-operators… a lesson learnt, though not a reflection of the nice stay in Taj. Having stayed in Taj resorts at Kovalam, Madikeri, Goa, Maldives, I feel Taj Kumarakom has many spots to betterment, especially house keeping, room service and the general upkeep.

The place was nice and the location was good. The staff was also courteous and helpful. The rooms were spacious and reasonably comfortable but not what we were looking for . The overall room experience was not worth the money we paid for . We have experienced in the past better rooms for much less the price. When u charge almost 50000 rs a night we definitely expect much better facilities , walls were plain simple and boring, nogreat decor , TV was placed right at the centre which was a bit awkward . Lots of mosquitos inside and out and no mosquito repellent available. Washroom was not fully clean as there were stains and spots at multiple places. Also the distance from reception or dinning area ro room was far and only one buggy available which too was mostly busy with other guests . Suggestion- you must hv multiple buggies available . Finally the services arranged from outside vendors also were clearly overpriced. We paid Rs 5000 for boat ride to outside vendor arranged by Taj but if we had booked him directly he would have charged Rs 2500 only. Similarly for Taxi booking also and other activities . Now coming to breakfast .... very little choices avaliable..not as elaborate as in other properties and and there were many misses in service also. Other facilities or activities were also very limited so not much to do in the property itself. We know it was peak season but still there is a limit to what u should charge . Wrong to sell silver for the price of gold . In nutshell after paying more than Rs 1 lakh for two nights we felt as if we have been clearly overcharged for the entire experience . Thanks . Hope management will look into this do something about it .
