Stayed in the hotel for 3 days. We have booked 2 different room for 3 days and the staff was helpful to get us in the same room for all 3 days. The best part of the stay were the employees. Stayed in the hotel for 3 days. We have booked 2 different room for 3 days and the staff was helpful to get us in the same room for all 3 days. The best part of the stay were the employees. From the time you get in to the receptionist, housekeeping, restaurant, pool, bar and everywhere else everyone had a smile in the their face. Customer service was great. The rooms were clean, restaurant had great selection in buffet and also to order. Will definitely come back.

“Desperate need of updating and TLC!”

It was a huge mistake on my part to come to Kochi and to this hotel over the New Year holiday when madness descends all over town and in almost all hotels. On 31st Dec and 1st Jan I could not find any 5/4 star hotel providing a la carte menu in their restaurants. And there is nothing in the neighborhood as any option. Everyone was busy sucking the gullible public and raking in the moolah with outrageously priced buffets and ear splitting noise all night long. This hotel has historic credentials and belongs to a Group that started off on the sustainable premise and heritage properties. I have not stayed in of the other CGH hotels, but this one is fast decaying. It is in desperate need of a major refresh and updating. It is blatantly showing its age and worn out status. The bathroom is a major embarrassment, shower / plumbing fixtures are broken or not working, old style bathtub with plastic shower curtain, flush not working, hospital style white lights, frayed torn towels. It was impossible to get a proper night sleep on the old, sagging mattress. Breakfast was average. Staff have good intentions but lack in execution. Restaurant staff are not properly trained. The welcome drink is a small glass of colored sugar water. They still provide drinking water in plastic bottles in spite of their claim to be sustainable. This is a fast fading Hotel sitting on its past glory.

So.... This used to be a storied hotel - but what they have done to it is make it a soulless business place. The renovated rooms could be in any urban hi-rise hotel chain. The parquet of the hotel corridors have ripped out and covered with some terrible carpeting. Laminates in the rooms have replaced the old wooden fittings. And honestly the effect just does not go with the character of the old hotel. They have really saved on the interior decor of the rooms and the one restaurant - not even a picture graces the walls. Service: businesslike and perfunctory - much like Indigo Airlines. There is no extra warmth from front office or reception. In fact they even screwed up on our billing and instead of reversing charges they told me the guy who had given us our package had quit and had made a mistake so we were liable to pay more than what was quoted. I thought this was distinctly unprofessional. The front office guy could have spoken to the manager and reversed these charges. Food: truly truly good, and you should go here for a meal. The problem though is there is only one restaurant that has a buffet for lunch so you're stuck with it, as there isnt much around. The xmas decor was sustainable and innovative - but I wish the management would spend time on the service and quality of stay Overall quite disappointed. Not really the CGH expereince we thought we'd get.

Admittedly we had a 'standard' room but we found it inadequate as a comfortable 2 night stay. The bathroom had no extractor fan, so remained damp (including the towels)with steamy mirrors. Even after housekeeping we were short of one towel, water and no spare toilet roll We asked at reception (nicely) to deal with, but on return from a days outing nothing had been done The wardrobe was minimal with no drawers in the room at all, and only 3 hangers The food was exceptionally delicious and varied, pool and area quiet and clean. One night had music, which was awful. We could hear it in our room, it was a bit like poor karioke 😟 Staff were of course, very friendly and helpful
