Great location near the beach, but taxi ride or 1/2 walk to main town. Plenty of decent restaurants within walking distance and hotel food excellent, just lacks atmosphere. Pool and garden lovely, room a bit tired and you need to book a pool view room, rooms facing the other way have pretty dreary views. Breakfast ok, food options sufficient just quality letting it down, egg station compensates for this. The outstanding attribute of this hotel is the staff, they were all amazing.

“A lush oasis”

We wondered where our transfer minibus was taking us as we went down a narrow dusty road. It then pulled up by this lovely hotel. The grounds are lush and beautifully maintained. Our room was large, with a large balcony overlooking the pool. The bathroom adequate, the shower superb. The large swimming pool is clean and well maintained, there never seemed a shortage of loungers. The men by the pool are quick to supply you with towels. We only had breakfast at the hotel. The freshly made dosa and omelettes are excellent. Nitya, the breakfast chef, was always cheerful and prepared excellent food. All the staff were friendly and helpful, the young lad who cleaned our room fitted in with our timings and was always helpful. The hotel is sat next to the beach with beach shacks offering sunbeds or shaded seating in return for buying a drink. It isn't ideally placed for the centre of Candolim or Calangute, but both are easily and cheaply reached by taxi or tuktuk.

This may seem a strange review because I've rated the hotel 4 out of 5, we are currently staying in the hotel and it's a hotel we first came to 6 years ago and we have always had a fantastic holiday, it has become a very special place for us and we are due to return early February with our granddaughter. Whilst the staff you interact with on a daily basis are still fantastic and cannot do enough to make your stay magical there seems to be a change in management style which is changing the feel of the hotel, I understand that things change but there is a saying, if it's not broken don't try to fix it, I genuinely think that my visit in February could well be my last and we are already looking at alternatives, it will be a real shame if that's the case as some of the people/staff that we have met are very dear to us, I would ask the management team to just take a step back and maybe hold a staff meeting to allow those who know the guests to have an input, thanks.

“Weekend trip to Goa”

We visited Goa during Dussehra holidays and stayed at Sonesta for three nights. We were a group of three families with three teens. Our stay was comfortable and the rooms were sufficiently large with a nice bed and clean toilet. They provided an extra bed on request and it was comfortable too. However, some rooms needed maintenance as walls had water seepage marks. The resort has a great lawn and direct beach access. The beach is clean, not so crowded and has a decent number of shacks. Swimming pool is well maintained, clean and attended all the time. The resort's restaurant was decent with multiple options and taste. They have ample car parking and the nearby market is 5 mins walk. Overall we enjoyed our stay and recommend Sonesta Inns to people looking for mid budget options away from the crowded main beaches of Goa.
