I stayed here after long 5 day horse trek. I upgraded and booked bottle of wine on arrival. I was very tired and wanted to use spa and have quiet drink. The place is lovely rooms cleaned and good size. The wine never arrived even after requesting. The tv said I could cast my ph to it but after several requests to help they finally said they don't have the option.. They were very apologetic and I was given some small treats and a drink voucher.. The place is a short walk through lovely bush to the Perlan which is amazing. Over all enjoyed my 2 nights here. Spa staff aren't overly friendly but seems to be the icelandic way

Hotel reception clean and very nicely decorated, reception staff rude at times not very customer focus apart from a nice gentleman from Senegal. Room was small and dated. Breakfast good selection however spoiled by power trip staff . Gym small but well equipped, spa good set up And staff polite, all in all good but staff need to improve in customer service.

In short (linger review below): Pros: - friendly staff - reasonable price - spa and swimming facilities Cons: - walking to town not convenient - over-priced menu, mediocre food - online room service system broken - Queen room shower only (no bath) - shower lacking light I booked my stay through an agency (Secret Escapes) and read the reviews online and also the hotel's own website information, it seemed reasonable. We arrived and found our room had most things expected, but it was a little dated and the bathroom especially needs work. The queen bed is actually 2 single beds pushed together and the duvet is 2 single duvets on top of the beds, which wasn't amazingly comfortable as my partner and I are used to a bed with one double or king size duvet on it. We were surprised the bathroom only had a shower, but accept we weren't promised a bathtub. The issue came when using the shower - the shower head needs replacing as water randomly sprays in different directions and if you pull the shower curtain closed, there is almost no light in the shower itself. The water in the bottom of shower also took several minutes to drain after the shower was finished being used. The SATT restaurant offers a decent breakfast buffet but at £25 a head it felt not worth it when we weren't eating that much, definitely seemed like it was more aimed at conference guests. The dinner menu wasn't staggering, but the prices were , relatively speaking. A bowl of tomato soup and a club sandwich with one drink each was again about £25 each (also I ordered a Calypso coffee and used to make them myself as a former bartender and it was easily the worst one I've ever seen served). One night my partner took ill and I needed to use the room service only to find the online service access via QR code only opened a drinks menu, so I called reception for help ordering and was put through to the restaurant who then didn't answer the call and I was forced to leave my ailing partner whilst I went down to the bar and ordered in-person, which was somewhat annoying. When I reported the QR menu error to the lady who served me in the restaurant, I was told "oh no, you have to call down", ironic since I did and the call rang off. The room service charge is about £8.50 which felt reasonable under the circumstances. Taxis to town from the hotel were around £16 a time - we initially planned to walk everywhere but weren't prepared for how much further it is on foot (close enough on the map, but once the hills and high winds are factored in, it was very inconvenient) and not advisable that anyone with health issues consider it. I didn't use the pool or spa as we were primarily here to go on tours. Generally, you are better off choosing to eat out if able since there are many fantastic eateries in Reykjavík that price comparably with the hotel and are rather better quality. I also highly recommend a bar called Ægir in town that serves its own beers and lagers. The hotel staff are friendly and helped me resolve some issues, they were happy to help within their limits. All in all, the place is a little tired and at times overpriced for what is offered, but comfortable enough.
