I stayed at the hostel for 2 nights recently. I was at the building that is further from the main road so I can only review that one. I found the neighborhood very quiet and relaxed. The room was very small (single) and next to the kitchen area on the first floor. A small room worked well for me as I wanted to be outside and not hanging out in my room. When I first arrived I was worried other travelers would be noisy in the kitchen next door but it was never an issue. The only noise was from people arriving late upstairs, I think. I felt the building was fairly well built and could muffle some noise but some people are just loud and won't respect others when they arrive late to a place like this. I found that downtown was an easy walk from the hostel, the city is small. The city buses are very easy to use with the available app. There is a pool just a few minutes walk away, across the main road. The kitchen has everything you need including a full size fridge. My room also had a small fridge and even a sink with mirror. The gentleman at the check-in desk is very helpful with getting you into your room and suggesting places to visit. Well run establishment! I would stay at the hostel again.

Arrived after 4pm so followed instructions on retrieving the room key (4pm seems a bit early for a weekday closing time). Arrived after 4pm so followed instructions on retrieving the room key (4pm seems a bit early for a weekday closing time). Room was simple and clean however I found the previous guest's half eaten subway in the fridge! The following morning I was disappointed to discover that the breakfast room was closed for the Summer (I had booked this accommodation with this convenience in mind). In mitigation the receptionist recommended Cafe Loki by the Cathedral and we had a superb breakfast there. The communal bathroom had a sticking door which made it very difficult to open and close. This is a simple thing to fix so having reported this I hope it is now mended. This was our first visit to Iceland so in future I think we can do better perhaps for a little more outlay.
