“Nice & Comfortable !”

We have stayed at Center Hotels every trip to Iceland so far (5x) it has always been a good experience. Clean and comfortable with always a good breakfast !

“Great location, decent room.”

Great location, however being in the center means it is loud as well- The room was so hot since the weather was warm, even with the windows open the blinds did not close all the way so it was bright as well (for sleeping). Great location, however being in the center means it is loud as well- The room was so hot since the weather was warm, even with the windows open the blinds did not close all the way so it was bright as well (for sleeping). Blow dryer didn’t work and cold water was a very slow stream. But- breakfast was great and although loud, the local was perfect, close to a bus stop and lots of food options.

“City which never sleeps”

We had a quiet room at the back of the hotel, but ,on emerging at 0500 for an early airline flight,I was horrified by the noise level at the front of the hotel.Nightclub revellers were still active, and car horns were being used. Our room was simply furnished,but of good size and with a firm bed.As usual, the two single duvets were too thick and far too short.There was a kettle and a fridge,and just adequate unpacking facilites. The bathroom had a usable basin ,but needed a bit of care with the incomplete shower enclosure to avoid the expected flooding extending into the bedroom. The usual Icelandic lack of proper blackout provision was not as bad as usual,in that the curtains were at least opaque, although there was no blind or shutter.A bit of work with sticky tape produced a fair result.On a cool day( max 11 degrees) for June the west facing room was too hot by evening, and the window opening was small, and probably not accessible to shorter people. A cheap fan would be of more use than the big TV. Breakfast was in a really gloomy basement,and lighting on the dark stone stairs( white lines needed) was barely safe. I thought the hotel offered good value( assuming a back room) in this expensive city.

The location of this hotel is good. The room was clean, but not very bright because the windows look into a wall. A thunderfooted guest above us was distracting, but fortunately they were on relatively the same sleep schedule as us. The breakfast is plentiful if you are a morning eater. There’s a nice big lobby and a bare bones bar at which you can step up to get a drink to sip in the lobby around a gas fireplace if you prefer. The front desk staff is not really very helpful. You should understand that you have to fend for yourself when it comes to advice about parking. All parking in Reykjavík is zoned, metered, and very complicated. The meters are all in Icelandic so good luck working those machines. We weren’t told about any amenities in this hotel so there must not be any other than the breakfast room in the basement that is windowless, by the way. Overall, I feel this hotel staff — especially the front desk — needs hospitality training.
