Annamaria checked us in and we had a fantastic stay. We had a very comfortable bed and were upgraded to a river view when we arrived. Breakfast as well as dinner was very good with some great choices. You cannot beat the location as it is right next to the Chain Bridge. There are many places to sit and relax in the lobby and the couches and chairs are very comfortable. This is our go to place in Budapest and can't wait to return.

I spent quite a bit of time deciding what hotel to stay in and went back and forth between the Intercontinental Budapest, Marriott and several others. I was travelling to Budapest to see the beautiful city and spend lots of time walking around. My Grandparents immigrated from Hungary in the early 1900's. I have stayed at many hotels around the world for more than 40 years while travelling on business for hundreds of nights throughout North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. From the moment I checked into this hotel until the time I left I had a great experience and enjoyed my stay immensely. The breakfast buffet was excellent and had a great selection. The club floor had a nice view was peaceful, had great appetizers and food. The hotel is old school and is somewhat dated-mid century modern. The whole property is spotless for its age. It is perfectly positioned to walk to everything on both the Buda and Pest sides being very close to the bridge. Very close to public transit and the concierges were very good at arranging transport to the airport and other locations not within walking distance. The extra money spent for the river view was worth it, it was stunning at night. The staff are what make this hotel special from the front desk, busboys and restaurant workers to the concierges. Despite the fact the hotel was packed and there was also some kind of EU military conference, you never could find an excuse to complain and if you did you are impossible to keep happy and just like to complain. The hotel was also quiet and the air conditioning/heating work well , I had excellent sleeps every single night for the 7 days I stayed there. The bathroom is dated but everything was clean and worked as intended. After walking by and looking at the Marriott I was glad I picked the Intercontinental, it did have renovated interior and rooms but could possibly be the ugliest building I have ever seen. If you want to nit pick , the only gripe would be two of the elevators were being replaced so at times it was slow and annoying in morning and evenings. At least they are upgrading and maintaining the property.

We booked this hotel and decided to upgrade our room to a view of the Danube - this is a must as amazing views which made us feel very relaxed and chilled whilst in the spacious room. Location is perfect, just over 30 mins (traffic depending) from the airport via a taxi and located on the Pest side of Budapest. Very central and walking distance to the centre of the city. All staff very friendly in a lovely hotel and we enjoyed several drinks in the bar. The only slight negative was sleep quality - despite the ample sized bed we found the pillows too soft and we could not turn the air-con off. This was very minor and would rate the hotel 4.5/5. A very enjoyable stay and would happily return if we decided to come back to Budapest.

The hotel is in a great location. Be sure to get a riverside room to watch all the boats and the lit building across the Danube. The staff is very friendly and Taz, the Lebanese restaurant, serves delicious food. Budapest is a great city. We tasted several goulash soups and they were all very good. We took a city tour to Buda , and I highly recommend you do the same. I would give the hotel 5 stars for service, but the rooms need to be renovated.
