A good quality Marriott Hotel of similar standard to the Marriotts we have used previously. "City-centre" location being used by tour groups, individuals and small group visitors to Budapest. Quite a number of pilot and cabin staff. Appeared popular with those whose next step would be to the Airport about 20 miles away. Rooms spacious and very clean, offering everything you might need but primarily functional. The hotel restaurant served excellent food, some of it Hungarian, but from a relatively limited menu. The Head Waiter was excellent - friendly and professional. As for the negatives it was noisy at night with numerous police cars or ambulances speeding past with sirens on all night !! Why?? The surrounding roads struck us a a bit scruffy and in need of a street cleaner. On the other hand the main area for shops and restaurants was accessible with a 25 minute walk. We were part of a Riviera Travel tour group and the hotel matched our needs very successfully.

I had to rate an otherwise 5 star hotel just a 4 due to the AC system. The Courtyard is in a great location. There are tram stops and subway stops right there and the New York Cafe just down the street. No problem at all seeing the sites of Budapest if this is your hotel. There’s even a McDonald’s across the street and a mall next door. Staff (front desk, housekeeping, and restaurant) was very good and friendly. Wifi worked perfectly. Breakfast was the best we’ve had at any of the 4 hotels on our tour of Central Europe. The AC was not very good. They suggest you set the thermostat between 17° and 24° C (about 62° to 75° F). To get our room comfortable we had to lower it to 13° (55°). Since there’s only a setting and no temp readout you really don’t know what the temperature is (but I guarantee it wasn’t 55°). The Fitness Center was a bit of a disappointment for such a large hotel. Three treadmills and just a little bit of other equipment. The temperature was set below 10° (50°) and it still felt like a hot box. One nice feature is a free sauna & steam room. I had planned to try out the sauna, but running on the treadmill turned out to be the same thing. I know I’ve dwelled too much on AC, but I just wanted to make travelers aware of that one drawback. All in all, I would definitely be willing to stay there again. Everything else was first rate.

The only negative was this time that our doors was knocked multiple times when the DND sign was out. It was to sign a bill from the restaurant, but still, in my opinion, DND sign should be respected. Otherwise, everything was amazing.
