Substantial breakfast with a wide choice, comfortable beds etc. Best of all was the location, central for walking most places and near to trams for more distant travel plus the recommended evening trip along the riverside.

“Great hotel - Central, modern, comfortable, very clean , great breakfast.”

We had a four night stay in October / November . The room was a good size, floor five , with a velux window which was good to get fresh air into the room. The room was modern, good sized with a fridge , coffee machine and water which we replenished daily . Plenty of wardrobe space. The bed was very comfortable and the room and en-suite were exceptionally clean. Shower gel , soap and body moisturiser were topped up daily . Towels were a little small but adequate. Great central local , lots of bars and restaurants close by. Breakfast was great a core of yoghurts, cereal, fruit, cheese , meats , conserves, pastries & breads plus hot options which changed daily including eggs , sausages . Would highly recommend .

“Fabulous!”

Wonderful four night stay. Superb location, helpful staff, rooms have everything you need and breakfast super. Would highly recommend this hotel and Budapest as a city. The hotel’s sister hotel further along the road is also worth a visit. We had a superb lunch there on our last day.

“A clean and well located hotel in the main tourist street”

It would be hard to find a hotel that is better situated than the Alta Moda! It's right on the main tourist pedestrian street, so is very close to shops and restaurants. It's just steps from the main market building and the Liberty Bridge, and less than 10 minutes from the fabulous Hungarian Nation… more

It would be hard to find a hotel that is better situated than the Alta Moda! It's right on the main tourist pedestrian street, so is very close to shops and restaurants. It's just steps from the main market building and the Liberty Bridge, and less than 10 minutes from the fabulous Hungarian National Museum. Our room was on the top floor, under the eaves, so to speak, so our windows didn't look down onto the street; rather, we could see the upper floors of the building across the street and the sky! The room was very clean, very quiet and very spacious with good storage; there was a Nespresso machine and a beverage fridge. The decor was quite modern and the lighting was good (although with the deep vibrant colours, knicks and scratches on the wall were easy to see and I imagine the hotel will be needing to frequently repair these). The bathroom amenities were very good as well. The breakfast was small-ish but very delicious, with dishes replenished right up until closing time. The diningroom wasn't busy during our first breakfast, but we had a good 10 minute wait when we went down the next day. The staff worked diligently, though, to clear and sanitize tables, seat patrons, and refresh the food items ... they were quite amazing. I would be remiss not to point out that all the staff at the Alta Moda seemed very hard-working ... from the excellent breakfast staff, to the maintenance man who seemed to always be cleaning or fixing something, and the friendly front desk clerks who greeted us each time we walked by and who made a dinner reservation for us. Our only complaint is what others have mentioned: there was a sewer odour in our bathroom and in the main foyer. It wasn't strong enough to really bother us, but enough that we certainly noticed it. I hope this can be remedied because it's really the only fault we encountered in this lovely hotel. Budapest has amazing restaurants ... a couple near the hotel that we particularly enjoyed for food and atmosphere were Rustico (just steps from the hotel) and Baalbek, a Lebanese restaurant which was a 10 minute walk away and is on the river front. The hotel has an arrangement with the latter; it made the reservation for us and we received a 10% discount for dinner. I would definitely recommend this hotel (but really hope that the odour issue is addressed!).
