“Brilliant stay in Amsterdam”

Had a fantastic experience, great hotel and amazing location (12 min walk to the Amsterdam Central Station). Trevor and the staff went over and above to make my stay a memorable one! Will definitely be staying there again on my next trip to Amsterdam!

First the bad. The room doesn’t have good temperature control. I Phoned the front desk who said this should work after 20-30 mins. In another call, they said, this will take up to an hour to work. On checkout the Front desk manager said given The Netherlands’ climate, they don’t have air con as such. On check-out Abraham, stopped dealing with me midway through and went to deal with someone else to put away their luggage. No excuse me, nothing. Abraham, again then started talking to yet another guest without acknowledging me. When I pointed this out to him, another colleague started smirking as I spoke. I don’t appreciate being mocked. When I politely pointed this out, He apologised. The other guest said, “they’re useless”. This is not professional behaviour, and he probably needs his customer facing role revised and more training given. The Front desk manger did however apologise for this. Based on this I’ve had to reduce my initial 5* rating of Room Mate. The Good. Excellent modern hotel and facilities, 15 min walk from Amsterdam Centraal, and close to the Damrak, trams, restaurants etc. Check-in was fine. The room was spotless and well-appointed in size, (Superior Double Room, City View). Hazime, (from name card), who made up the room, was always polite, professional, and courteous. Thanks also to Anjali, for assistance prior to arrival. I may consider staying here again next summer, though have concerns about the heat, as this would be unbearable. The window can be opened just a jar. So, I don’t know how that would work in warmer months. I would stay again on the assumption a few members of staff learn about a customer focus. Correct this and you’ve got a great hotel.

This hotel is located not far away from the main railway station Amsterdam Centraal. You can reach it out by a short 10min footwalk. The area is the old west dock next to the water with new modern and stylish buildings. The hotel is also in a new building. The room was big and everything was inside. The bed was big and new. A restaurant and bar are located in the basement with a great view to the small marina. I enjoyed my stay there.
