Newly renovated rooms, great on site restaurant, great service, current construction, technical and cleanliness issues. Loved the vibe of Renaissance Amsterdam. Room and bathroom were incredibly spacious and well appointed. Loved the location and on site restaurant and service. They are currently doing renovations so have a temporary lounge and some floors have active construction, maybe keep in mind if you plan on staying in the immediate future and sleeping during the day. They were having a technical outage while we were there. Our television never worked. Could not figure out how to make the lights stop turning off automatically and had to force down one of our electrical shades. Bathroom had some cleanliness oversights, a spot of blood under the toilet seat and a streak stain on the wall. Both came off easily with wiping.

“Disappointing experience with over expectation of Renaissance hotel”

As a Marriott member, we usually stay with ex-SPG hotels like Sheration, W or Le Meridien. This time we picked to stay at Renaissance Amsterdam because of the convenience and it is just less than 8 minutes walk from Centraal Station. After we got off from the station, we followed Google Map to look for hotel. When we arrived as per Google Map indication, we reached a co-working office and next to it, it was a construction site and we could not find the entrance of the hotel. So we called the hotel, unfortunately the staff from front desk was not familiar with the area around and even I told her that I was in front of another hotel called hotel Sinnz Nicholaas, but the lady did not know this hotel, just keep on telling the cafe beside the hotel. But the cafe was hidden behind the construction site and no obvious signage can be found near the construction site. We walked out of the alley and searched with Apple Map again but the direction was the same. So, we walked along and passed over the construction site. Finally we found the cafe behind the construction site and then the entrance was also next block to the cafe. I believe the staff should try to give direction saying the entrance is next to the construction site. I talked to the manager in the morning when checking out and he said the construction would still in process until end of 2025, I recommend hotel should consider to put a signage near the construction to indicate the entrance. Breakfast was as usual European restaurant, eggs, hams, salad, coffee and tea, no expectation. Room is as nicely decorated as the photos from the web. And an incident in the morning that an announcement to evacuate like a fire drill but no information was given in advance. It was quite a confusion and I’m the end we went down to the lobby but seemed no one is aware of anything, the management of this drill is really annoying. And the first morning we were waken up by the construction at 8am coz we were given a room on 2nd floor. Location is convenient but if you can bear the insufficient direction as well as the construction noise and inconvenience, you can still consider it
