An immaculate clean beautiful hotel with friendly helpful staff whom speak great English. Delicious food including room service. Has a rooftop swimming pool with beds and views overlooking far and wide, you can even see the Acropolis from the roof. A gorgeous rooftop restaurant/bar too! Has lovely seating areas to relax including by a small waterfall set out in the centre of the hotel on the ground floor. Has a sauna although I had no time to use this. Spacious rooms, very hot water from the shower and very comfortable beds. Restaurants and cafes galore close by the hotel and a tube station just round the corner to get out and about further.

“Second fantastic stay”

I stayed at The Stanley in September 2021 and said in my review I would stay again. And I did in May 2024. Another pleasant stay. I appreciated my room being upgraded to a balcony facing the Acropolis. When I come back to Athens, I will be returning to The Stanley a third time!!

We stayed at the Stanley at the beginning of our trip to Greece and again at the end when we were back in Athens. Our stay was absolutely amazing. The staff were always friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was absolutely superb. We also did dinner each night at the sweet basil/cloud 9. It was delicious and the staff were some of the best. Get the sushi 🙌🙌🙌🙌

“Decent hotel however service below expectations”

I recently visited Athens for the first time and stayed at The Stanley hotel. Location wise it was not badly positioned with only 3 stops to Syntagma and 4 to Acropolis. There were many eateries nearby so easy enough to grab some food. The hotel itself has two restaurants. One on the 9th floor (sweet basil) and one on the 1st floor (Icarus). Overall although the stay was ok I did encounter 2 issues which I shall note below. Room: stayed in the Superior Renovated room with Acropolis view. Issue one: Was initially allocated a room on a lower floor and upon entering the room I find that there’s no A/C but rather a heating system in the room which apparently is only to be used seasonally. The room description clearly stated it is meant to have air conditioning. Upon raising this with the reception desk they initially sent up a fan which I think is a poor substitute for a 4 star hotel. After complaining further we were then moved up to the 7th floor which had AC. I do however wonder why, if the first room is meant to be a renovated room, it doesn’t have ac as standard. The room itself was nicely presented with the usual amenities and the balcony had views over the square, the acropolis to the side and the hills ahead. It is facing a busy roundabout however once the balcony door is closed it’s pretty quiet. Housekeeping cleaned the room daily which was positive. Breakfast: I opted for breakfast included which had a buffet spread of the usual eggs, beans, mushrooms, sausages, pastries, cereals , cheeses and meats etc. Issue 2: upon check in, we were provided with a sheet which noted times of breakfast amongst other things. Breakfast was noted to be until 11am at Sweet Basil on 9th floor. On our 2nd day we went up for breakfast at 10:30am only to be informed breakfast ends at 10:30 and we would need to go to Icarus on 1st floor where breakfast is until 11. Now this wouldn’t usually be an issue however As we were not notified of this previously, I informed them that the sheet provided had stated breakfast was until 11am in Sweet Basil. Whilst speaking to the staff , a couple who had arrived behind us had made their way towards the breakfast buffet to help themselves to some food. When I enquired with staff whether they shall also be notifying to other guests that breakfast has ended I was informed yes however I observed that this did not happen whilst I was querying the breakfast timings. The couple had already got their breakfasts and were sitting down. I did not witness any rush from the staff to stop them. This was frustrating as it felt service is dependant on who you are (us being of Asian descent and the other couple being white) . Thereafter for the following days we avoided breakfast and opted for eating at the Bread Factory instead which was very pleasant. . Overall I feel the hotel was ok but the service is left to be desired and can vary,I feel, on your background. Would I stay here again? Probably not. It was ok but not somewhere I would return purely based on service.
