We have just stayed here for three nights on a Christmas market break. The hotel is well located, being about 5-10 minutes’ walk from the main railway station but also only a couple of minutes from the nearest U-bahn station which takes you directly to the airport, or two stops to the Christmas market (about a 20 minute walk away). Our room was a very good size, with a comfortable German twin/double bed (so singles pushed together with separate duvets), a good shower and nice armchair. Slightly quirky was that the shower and sink were in the room itself, making it a bit tricky for sharers who aren’t a couple or indeed a couple like us who have different waking times! There was only the one armchair as a chair in the room: the other seating being a stool even though there was enough space for two chairs. The storage was enough for a couple of nights for two. There was a kettle and a fridge (although we couldn’t work out how to turn the fridge on). I like that they made a point of providing glasses with a note that the tap water was fine to drink, rather than bottles - and yes the tap water was very nice! We liked that you could opt to not have your room serviced during your stay with the cost saving to the hotel being donated to a project working to save bees. Breakfast was very good, with the usual European range of hot and cold items as well as a whole cooked fish daily to help yourself from and four different types of hot sausages! There were both plain and sweet breads as well as pastries and a cake of the day. A good selection of tea and coffee options as well as four or five juices completed the choice. I was pleased to see dairy lactose free and non dairy milk options, lactose free yogurt (which may have been soya), gluten free bread and specifically vegan choices all readily available. Staff at reception were all friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. You could also pick up an apple at reception! One downside to be aware of is that access to the hotel is via a flight of about 12-15 stairs with no obvious disabled access (might be at the back somewhere?) although once inside there is lift access throughout. But we would happily stay here again!

Overall disappointed with the service at this hotel. I certainly wouldn’t call it 4 star. Travelling as a family we had a few extra requests which we’d made in advance, none of which were in place when we arrived. The staff mainly behave as if customers are a bit of an inconvenience with most requests responded to with an eye roll or shrug of the shoulders. The carpet in the corridors is stained and the ceiling was leaking in the breakfast room. On the plus side, the food in the restaurant was nice, the shower gel smells pleasant and the car park is convenient and secure.
