The hotel is great, big, there's an elevator, the reception staff are so helpful & friendly, you feel like at home with your family. Breakfast is tasty with various cold cuts & cheese, fruit, yogurt, Nutella but no hot food like sausages or scrambled eggs, only boiled eggs is there. The room was big, 3 beds ( 1 double, 1 single ) & a sofa transform into bed also. The bathroom has two sinks & two showers, one big & one small. The problem was that there's no air condition in the room & the weather was so hot these days. But the staff were so helpful & being 2 fans, the weather is good now. The hotel is very nice, location is great, just across the street there's Hamburg main station HBF ( Metros & Trains ) . Across the street there's bug bus station also. Street near the hotel is full of small shops & supermarkets. The main shopping street in Hamburg is about 5 min walk, where there's all famous shops, C&A, P&C, Huge Saturn ( who is now MediaMarkt ), Deichman, LEGO, Douglas........... Also a lot of cafes & restaurants. We enjoyed our stay in Hamburg & particularly Novum Hotel. Till our next time.

“It’s the little things ”

I wrote a review of this hotel last year and couldn’t fault a thing. I defended the hotel when others commented on the undesirables in the hotel’s surroundings, taking the view that the hotel had little or no control over that. However, this year, our room was smaller than last year, which is not a deal breaker in itself, but it was the fact that we had to walk through the middle of some of those undesirables who were hanging around the hotel doorway that annoyed me. I am no shrinking violet and had no problem moving them out of the way, but can see why others may feel intimidated. Whereas last year I commented that the hotel couldn’t do anything about the surroundings, their own doorway is very much within their control - especially when you consider there are two police stations within yards of the hotel. That situation needs to be resolved. That aside, the hotel continues to be clean, the breakfast plentiful, the location superb and the staff friendly and efficient. The only fly in the ointment is that it needs to take control of their immediate environment.

We had a two person room. The beds were however not next to another, but in a row. There was one reading light, and not two. The television was broken. It was clean but very small. The breakfast was poor. The coffee and hot chocolate were poor. The only fresh fruit were apples. It was walking distance from the station. Fine for one night, but not for a long weekend.
