The other day I was fortunate enough to spend one night at Germany‘s best Grand Hotel the „Breidenbacher Hof“. But what is a „grand hotel“? The „grand“ in grand hotel can be synonymous for its size but’s also for its splendor, opulence and glory. The expression „grand hotel“ implicates a very big and luxurious hotel that offers just a little more luxury and just a little more exclusivity- just a little more attention to detail to its luxury pampered clientele than other hotels of the same segment. Its architecture resembles a palace with spacious room sizes and classic, elegant furniture. Immaculately clean, first class service and excellent dining options are some more of its characteristics. Spa and gym you would expect to be incorporated as well. And as a guest you want to feel like you travel back in time when only royals and very wealthy members of the society frequented those establishments and enjoy the same privileged treatment as them. Grand Hotels are Usually 5* S category but can also come in a different package. The „Breidenbacher Hof“ delivers it all. Perfect location in the city center just across the street of the metro station. The hotel has a very classic and elegant design. Impressive stairway in marble when you enter the hotel. You are greated and accompanied to your room by your „personal assistant“. Thank you „David“ it was a very pleasant experience. As a hotel guest you have access to the „living room“ a lounge area with drinks and some bites. In general the hotel area is separated from the public area so there is no access to hotel floors if you do not have a room key card. Makes you feel save and exclusive as a guest. The room is big, very comfortable and of a classic elegant design but not old fashioned. All technical equipment in the room is up to date and works perfectly well. WiFi was perfect I was able to work without long waiting times or interruptions. Mini Bar, snacks and sweets are included. Nespresso Coffe machine and capsules are included. As an addition to the usual 5* S standard „The Breidenbacher Hof“ offers the air condition control at the panel of your bed side, as well as controls for light, reading light and curtains. What I personally liked a lot was the night light, also controllable from your bedside. Bathroom equipped with separate shower, bath tub and separate toilet. Almost everything of marble and in elegant design. The amenities in the bathroom come in big bottles for multi usage of my favorite brand „grown alchemist“. Dining options are plenty but on Monday the restaurant „Duchy“ is closed. So I had dinner in the lobby bar. It seems they offer the same menu so you do not miss out on anything. I loved the Cutlery of silver it just makes the difference and the elegant setting. The salted butter has the „D“ of Duchy „printed“ on it which is a nice touch. The food was very nice. The breakfast is served in the „Duchy“ restaurant and was also nice but you have to pay for any kind of egg preparation separately. Spa offers steam bath, Sauna mixed but you will also find Sauna in the locker room for ladies in case you don’t want to use the mixed sauna. Various shower options with massage functions and a small pool to dip into. Towels and water or tea are provided everywhere in the SPA area so you stay hydrated all the time. The only thing that I really missed was a spa bag. Some hotels offer that for their guests during their stay. The gym equipment was especially nice because they had the „Breidenbacher Hof“ emblem embroidered everywhere. Gives it a very luxurious spin even in the gym and I have never seen this before in any hotel. It even looked as if they had all seats covered with leather but I am not sure if that is real leather. My stay at the spa was short but relaxing and very quiet. When I went to my room in the evening the hotel offered a „Betthupferl“ which could be found at the door. That was a nice surprise. Needless to say all the areas of the hotel are spotless. The staff was attentive as you would expect at that level, extraordinary helpful, responsive and just could not do enough for you. Everything to make you feel welcome and important to them. The „Breidenbacher Hof“ let’s you dive into an elegant world and enjoy it. The attention to detail is truly amazing and everything is well thought through. The only negative point: my room key card did not work properly all the time, I had to put it several times before the door opened. And I would have loved to have a spa bag.

The hotel is beautifully designed and not expense spared with the furniture, fittings etc. everything has a very high class feel about it. The rooms are large and well appointed and very very quiet. The restaurant also beautiful although I only had breakfast there. The food served in the lobby lounge when restaurant is not open is same menu I believe and delicious .

“Excellent place to stay!”

I have been to quite a few hotels, the service here was excellent. The valet parking is such a good service that many fail to have.

“Great experience”

I stayed in the hotel for 3 nights. It was a great experience. Excellent service, very much customer oriented, food/cuisine was delicious. Location is the best in Dusseldorf, close to the historic center and the modern area. Definitely recommend and would be glad to be back.
