We stayed for two nights as West Ham were playing Leverkusen. Firstly, considering it's advertised as Old Town it's a very long walk from the station and Dom, in an area I wouldn't describe as touristy. We arrived having taken the Eurostar from London to Brussels and then the train to Cologne. When we arrived at the hotel check in was fairly smooth but we were all on different floors. This didn't really matter but just strange as we booked a while ago on one booking. When I got to my room the key / lock was the most old fashioned I have seen in years. I put it in the lock and tried everything. It took me a full 10 minutes to get the door open and then I couldn't get the key out. I finally did and mentioned it to reception on our way out. They said nothing could be done as the hotel was full! On returning to the hotel that evening the lift was out of order. Not so bad on the 1st and 2nd floors but not great on 5th. I again had a ridiculous time with my key and had to - walk - back down to reception. The girl came up with me and she struggled! I have not come across such a farce in my life. Despite the room NOT being cheap, breakfast was not included. It was advertised at 14 euros but we were told we could have it for 10 euros. We were told there were hot and cold foods. When we went down on the first morning there was no hot food at all. There was no milk. And no cups/mugs or cutlery. The bread and cold meats were nice! The actual room was ok, the bed was comfortable. And everything was clean I know all the hotels in Cologne had put the prices up because we were in town but I don't feel that this hotel was worth what we paid.
