“Our stay at the Merian Hotel Köln”

Small hotel, a bit older but location was very good and very close to the train station. Pros: comfortable bed- nice big shower- small fridge- big windows- location- friendly staff- and small lift. Cons: poor wifi connection- small and thin pillows- old carpet that looked dirty.

We stayed three days over Rosenmontag. The hotel is clean, staff is friendly, rooms are a little tired but ok. Breakfast is good. We had wi-if in our room for two devices. We stayed three days over Rosenmontag. The hotel is clean, staff is friendly, rooms are a little tired but ok. Breakfast is good. We had wi-if in our room for two devices. The location is great, the closest U-bahn station is Breslauer Platz. The hotel is just behind the train station a short walk to both Altstadt and the shopping area in Hohestraße, and the Dom. The trains didn’t bother us. We did hear some noises on one night but from the guests of the Aparthotel across the street, returning from late night Carnival festivities.

This Hotel is literally a stone's throw from the Hauptbahnhof.The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. The room was well heated and spotless and wifi was quick and reliable. The room however was small and (to a certain extent) tired - showing its age.There were no noise issues to speak of.All in all a good place to stay for a weekend in Koln.

Hotel looked a bit grubby from the outside and this continued with the interior. Reception and restaurant area needs decorating. No food available due to Covid but snacks/drinks were. Great location for the hbf and the area of cologne just north east of the station which is worth a visit. Bedroom… more

Hotel looked a bit grubby from the outside and this continued with the interior. Reception and restaurant area needs decorating. No food available due to Covid but snacks/drinks were. Great location for the hbf and the area of cologne just north east of the station which is worth a visit. Bedroom was clean and tidy with fresh towels linen. But the same tired theme continued here. Ring road outside the room starts getting noisy from 0600 and the windows don't dull the sound so bring ear plugs. Limited motorcycle parking was available in a single locked garage for €14/day. Chinese man at reception was very nice, helpful and always happy to help so 10/10 for him! To sum up. Hotel was booked at the last minute, was cheap and served its purpose. If you visit koln for more than 1 or 2 nights then find somewhere a bit more modern and comfortable.
