I stayed here with my teen for one wonderful night when we were in town for a show at the Admiralspalast. We had a truly great experience. The lobby is beautiful, airy, and historic. The front desk staff was very courteous and helpful at check in. We had a great two-twin-bed room that was very spacious, well appointed, well lit, and felt quite luxurious for the price. We enjoyed the street view, and being able to sit up on the window sill and watch life go by below. The bathroom was very nice and modern. We enjoyed the room so much that we decided to stay in for dinner before the show, and ordered room service. The menu had child friendly options, and was not overly expensive. The food presentation was lovely! I very much enjoyed the schnitzel -- I haven't had one before, and wanted to try one while in Germany. We got free breakfast as our Marriott welcome gift, and this was a wonderful experience as well. There was a large and delicious spread of breads, cold cuts, yogurts, pastries, juices, etc. I think there was an option to get something made to order, but we were happy with the other offerings. The location was perfect for us for the Admiralspalast, but also proved central enough for me to have a mini jogging tour of main attractions in the morning, as the hotel is only minutes from Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, and some parks.

“Superb location, pleasant staff, generally good, some issues”

The Westin has the best location in Berlin for cultural tourists. It’s a few metres S of the Unter den Linden, within walking distance of (at least) seven major museums, two opera houses, two concert halls, the Pariser Platz, the Reichstag, the Holocaust Memorial and Checkpoint Charlie. There’s a U-Bahn station outside the door and another a short walk away. Retail therapy in all the top brands is just ‘down the street’ and there are good restaurants nearby. The hotel is a pre-unification 1980s building with an ornate interior (minimalists might recoil) and a general five star ambience (although some rooms are c. 140 m from the elevators). Unusually for a downtown hotel, it has protected outdoor space on the street which guests can enjoy with a glass of wine or a coffee. Our top floor ‘balcony deluxe room’ was spacious with a king+ bed, but the bathroom was (slippery) shower only, the one armchair had no arms and the narrow balcony was useless (and its promised ‘city views’ were of the office block across the street). Vertical clothes storage was poor. Breakfast was an extensive high quality buffet with endless choices (e.g. five different mueslis). Room service was poor - 30 minutes to deliver a panini! All the staff we met were friendly and professional. Overall, our seven night stay was a 4 rather than 5 star experience, but the location compensates.

The hotel is huge and clean the pillow and the bed is comfortable but the single bed is small. The staff very kind and helpful good breakfast, the value for money per night is expensive

“Great front of house staff, some niggles ( not many)”

Excellent front of house staff. Very helpful. Although we had a deluxe room it was a bit on the small side and the view was not exactly beautiful. We looked over the ugly roof of the building next door. They offer gluten free bread/rolls but these are not great quality but the rest of the breakf... more

Excellent front of house staff. Very helpful. Although we had a deluxe room it was a bit on the small side and the view was not exactly beautiful. We looked over the ugly roof of the building next door. They offer gluten free bread/rolls but these are not great quality but the rest of the breakfast is great. Good sleep quality.
