The Das Ludwig is a wonderful destination for either a relaxing spa retreat or family outing all year round. The resort offer all the amenities required by anyone. The highlights of our stay centered on the golf, spa and restaurants. The resorts location provides outstanding access to five 18-hole and three 9-hole golf courses, which are available all year. They are nicely laid out across the country side with great view of local villages. The spa has outstanding facilities to include in- and out-door heated pools, sauna, jacuzzi, lounges, showers, refreshment bar for a healthy glass of water or tea. The food and beverage service are also outstanding. They have a number of restaurants and bars on the resort. However; the true highlight was our evenings at the Zum Heurigen. It is one of the best restaurants we eaten at in a long time with great traditional foods from Bavaria. We actually went to dinner every night and tried something new along with great local beers and wine. I would highly recommend this resort for either a group golf holiday, relaxing spa vacation or family activity. In closing, we were really impressed by the staff and there willingness to assist us with making our stay even better.

“Friendly and cozy”

The room was big, little balcony. Only twin beds though. Country side style. Fantastic breafast. Good location for golf trip, very close to the golf courses. Dinner buffet at the hotel is very complet and costs 25€. We found nice restaurants in the area. Nice to walk around.

Modest family hotel in the middle of golf haven of Bad Griesbach. We came here several years ago when the kids were younger and they enjoyed the football camp as well as the local area. The football camps are well and very much grass roots teaching not only skill but mental focus. There were also lots of kids doing the kids club which they did a great job hosting and a handprint wall which still had our kids’ hand prints from their last visit! The rooms at the hotel were old and dated although we saw on the website that there were some renovated rooms available. We had a suite for ourselves (which was simply two rooms and a connecting door all opened up and second bed removed) and a standard room for the children. The key cards were on a wrist lanyard and surprisingly had the room numbers on each card so if you lost your card – anyone could come to your room and get in. The food at the hotel was pastas and pizzas for lunch and steamed veggies, lots of potatoes and grilled meats for the meals. There were cheeses and bread and a small salad buffet on offer as well as ice cream and a bit more interesting desserts for dinnertime. We were not impressed with the standard of food as it often feels like one notch above canteen food so we often made our way to other resorts (via the resort’s dine around program) to try other hotel restaurants but found they were not significantly better. We went to restaurants in nearby towns which was markedly better. I am not saying there was anything wrong with the food – it just was not our speed and we preferred strong and more interesting & complex flavours. Service in the hotel seems to have suffered a bit with disinterested staff working in the dining rooms and around the property. The front desk and the kids club (Mr Detlev in particular was amazing) teams were always very helpful but everyone else did not seem to be particularly happy. In these such hotels, we normally can identify who is in charge of the property and overseeing everything but it seems this hotel was taken over by a consortium which may have taken the personality out of the place. We were disappointed in our visit and do not expect to visit again. There are other hotels in the area which have superior offerings in terms of service and food standard and with our children being a bit older, we will consider those for our next golf holiday to Bavaria.

I, my wife and our 4 years old daughter stayed in this hotel for 6 days in August. We stayed in a family suite, not very large, but enough for a family with only one child. This doesn’t include one of the bathrooms which was very small and uncomfortable. The furniture and the painting of the room were worn out, quick refurbishment being a must. The room and the public areas were very clean and well maintained. Concerning the hotel buffet restaurant – breakfast was pretty good although repetitive, but the dinner was close to a disaster. Just a few dishes, not very tasty at all. Very far from a 4 star hotel requirements. We couldn’t resist more than 2 dinners there. That’s why we had two times dinner at Zum Heuringen, the Austrian restaurant in the same building, and one time at the Maximilian and Furstenhof hotels. Huge improvements in the quality of food and even service. We advise everybody to reserve dinners at these restaurants and to avoid the hotel restaurant in the evening. The hotel is not at all orientated to the foreign tourists, all around the hotel all the written information is only in the German language and even most of the personnel not being very good at English (and I mean even front desk personnel). Good kids club although most of them didn’t speak English. Not entertainment at all provided during the evenings. The outdoor swimming poll was pretty crowded in the afternoon, and that’s why we used it mainly after 5.30 pm when most of the guests were preparing for the dinner. Speaking about Bad Griesbach Therme, it’s a small resort with a few hotels, suited for old people looking for treatment and for golf players, the resort and the surroundings having not very much to offer for other types of tourists. The bicycle routes are most of them parallel with roadways and all you can see during bike riding are cornfields. If you want to walk, in about 15 minutes you can make a complete tour of Bad Griesbach Therme ….Nordic walking is also near cornfields… Although not being very expensive, for a 4 star superior hotel, Das Ludwig should offer much more.
