Stayed at this hotel a few times before when visiting family in Aachen, but this was the first post-Covid stay. I was originally booked into the Motel 1 down the road, but found the interactions with the staff and the parking situation at the hotel ridiculous, so I moved here - and I am glad I did. All in all, it was a decent stay - rooms are clean but in urgent need of renovation - for some strange reason, my room did not have any sheer curtains, just blackouts, so people from the neighbouring house could look straight into my room - nothing interesting happening here, so I did not really mind, but strange. Pillows need an urgent refresh! Living in Asia for over 10 years, I can’t get over the fact that in Germany, so many hotels still charge for high speed internet - that seems really strange, but on the plus side, the paid internet worked extremely well and facilitated the few conference calls that I had to join without any issues. Now to the awesome part: for a 3-star hotel, the breakfast is outstanding! Daily changing hot dishes added to a great range of cold items - an exemplary display of what this part of Germany is famous for: great breads and cold cuts. Solid range of tea (actual leaves, not tea-“dust”) and friendly service. Finally, the staff is the best asset of this place, especially the team at front desk, they are friendly, attentive, chatty and I loved interacting with them. All in all, there are certainly newer hotels in town, but when it comes to friendliness, convenience, quality of breakfast and the overall atmosphere this is still my go-to place. Good value for money and a lovely team.

“great location for the cathedral”

Good service. We arrived early and were allowed to check in straight away. Christiane gave us good instructions for how to get to the cathedral, which is very close by. It's in a pedestrian-only area. Great location for the Dom and the old city. Room has private bathroom with shower and toilet. Bed… more

Good service. We arrived early and were allowed to check in straight away. Christiane gave us good instructions for how to get to the cathedral, which is very close by. It's in a pedestrian-only area. Great location for the Dom and the old city. Room has private bathroom with shower and toilet. Bed made of two singles together leaves not much more space in the room. We walked from the train station, mostly downhill over cobbled streets. A taxi back to the hauptbahnhof (from the taxi rank just across the street) cost 11 euros.

“Everything you could want is here”

This was our second visit as the location is perfect. It is close to bus stops, the cathedral area and a pedestrianised shopping street.there is a taxi rank right opposite. This was our second visit as the location is perfect. It is close to bus stops, the cathedral area and a pedestrianised shopping street.there is a taxi rank right opposite. On the doorstep are a couple of nice cafes, an ice cream parlour, two great German bakeries and even a Subway and a McDonalds for those who want something familiar. The rooms are a good size with a good shower and lovely neroli and bergamot liquid soap and shampoo dispensers. The air conditioning is efficient - some might find it noisy but it’s a white noise which didn’t bother us. The quilts are really think so we took ours out of the cover and just used that as our stay coincided with the Sept heatwave. There is a kettle and sachets in the room which we gratefully made use of. Breakfast was great. We didn’t have any of the hot food but the cold meats and cheeses were a good selection and the breads were nice. The fruit salad was excellent and the latte coffee from the machine very good. Ordinary coffee was available on the tables but the machine offered cappuchino, latte etc. The tea wasn’t so good - great choice again, but any Uk based person going for the English Breakfast option will be disappointed. We saw a little bar area but it never appeared to be open - we were there mid-week in Sept, so maybe it’s a peak season/weekend thing. The staff were friendly and our request for an extra pillow each was met immediately. This is the place we will always try to book when coming to Aachen
