The Best Hotel In The Gambia is Coco Ocean. A magnificent and idyllic hotel which encapsulates exquisite style, peacefulness and tranquility. I was transported from a hectic lifestyle in London into a place of sophistication, beauty, relaxation and reflection which is what I needed. A professional high standard of customer service delivered from the General Manager Mr Terry Langenhoven, Management Team, Reception, Spa Manager/therapists, Restaurants waiters/waitresses and housekeeping. I have been visiting Coco Ocean since 2014 and have always experienced nothing but the best first class customer service. The GM Terry provided exceptional service who engages with the guests and takes time to meet with you to ensure your stay is perfect. Terry appreciated feedback and any suggestions for the hotel. A people’s person who strives to offer you the best experience at the hotel. Mohammed of Guest reservations delivered a professional, friendly service and was always on hand to help. The spa is amazing and its Manager Touria is excellent. She provided the best advice for all my treatments which allowed me to unwind and relax. My suite was situated opposite main reception and was spacious and perfect. The breakfast options included a variety of dishes and the service was made more enjoyable with the efficient/friendly staff. Smiley was our main waiter who went that extra mile to deliver your dishes and drinks. One of the best Thai restaurants in The Gambia freshly made dishes and the presentation was perfect. The ambience of the restaurants in the evening whether you ate inside the restaurant or out was enchanting. The saffron restaurant menu was just as good. The Sunday barbecue buffet allows you so many choices that you want to try everything. The high level of food & hygiene standards are visible at all times. I know this as I made a mistake of eating out of the hotel one night and felt very unwell. The GM Terry came to my rescue and made sure the hotel Doctor arrived swiftly and luckily I made a speedy recovery🙏🏾. I only ate at the hotel restaurants from there on!. I was also fortunate to meet with Mr Farid Bensouda one of the owners of Coco Ocean. A graceful and kind gentleman who made me feel valued as a guest. I am looking forward to meeting Mr Walter (ie also an owner) on my next visit. My deepest gratitude to everyone at Coco Ocean for a magical experience. See you again soon & God Bless You. I stayed at Coco Ocean for my two days honeymoon, The resort was very beautiful the first thing that impress me was the big giant gates which separated from the outside, The resort-deco remind me of being in Morocco or Tunisia. I was very impressed, I was a bit disappointed at the reception as you can imagine after a long few days of wedding costumes and traditions and our ceremony, all I wanted to do now was checking to our room . But we were having trouble with our booking. Which we booked in advance to avoid any problems. The rooms were nice plus spacious and very comfortable. The grounds was very nice so was the food staff was very friendly. This exquisite. Hotel was on a level on its own it’s like we was in another country, The hotel room wasn’t the best I experience while in the Gambia but the whole experience including the grounds was quite extraordinary and I can see why this is a 5 star resort as the complete package. I will definitely stay here again. I must say being as it was our honeymoon I expect a little bit more from the hotel to make the day a bit more special for us as we did call in advance to let them know. So surprised by the commotion on the reception.

This is the second time we have stayed at CocO Ocean. The first room we were allocated was spacious but we had noisy neighbours so upgraded to a beach house (same one we stayed in last year) ... That was amazing, breakfast buffet first couple of days was virtually non existent but as I had a freshly cooked omelette and hubby had toast it was OK. But then the hotel had a visit from another African president and things were on the up buffet improved. Thai restaurant food was very good as was the food at the beach bar but we ate on the strip at Kololi most nights. We used the transfer from the hotel in Coco 1 ... Staff were so lovely on reception especially Yaya he is so polite and professional. However we did experience one rather arrogant reception manager (I wish I could rememeber his name as he was awful very outspoken ... he had slight American accent ) However there always has to be one that lets a lovely hotel down, and we are looking forward to returning next April

Just got back, after a disappointing stay. Our room albeit the cheapest, was lovely, serviced by the lovely Anna, But it was opposite the entrance to the hotel and reception at a time VIP's were also there, with traffic police on a motorbike with sirens going earlyish in morning and evenings. We felt forgotten, as although breakfast was lovely and plentiful after they left, items were low when they were there. Food at beach bar was inedible and drinks were not always what we ordered, we ate elsewhere after a couple of days. Staff were really, lovely smiley was, just as the name says. One of the Front of house guys looked and talked to us, as if we were nobody, we had just come back from a day visiting friends (Gambians) at bungalows just along from cocoa hotel, that we have stayed at before, and we were a bit dishevelled, no excuse for his manner. The hotel looks lovely, the pools were great and well maintained, but a bit late at being cleaned, we were told we could use them at 8.a.m., but no. Cabanas beachside, great to get relief from the heat, towels lovely brought to us, and put on sunbeds. No entertainment. We had to walk our cases from main road at night. So many things were lovely but too many things for a 5* hotel were not acceptable
