Just back from our second stay at this lovely hotel. We have stayed in both the main building and the Pavilion. There is a price difference but I did not feel that our stay in the Pavilion was any less enjoyable. If you wish to pay quite a premium to stay in the main building that is a choice but in our experience a Pavilion room was very nice. It is in a more modern building opposite which is clearly used for conferences but as many hotels host conferences in their only building it just depends on how snobby you feel about it. The conference facilities did not impact on our stay in the least and as they are generally conducted during week days it may not be an issue at all. Yes it looks less glamorous in the corridors but I’m not sleeping in a corridor. Hotel guests use the same dining facilities whichever room you book. Our room was pristine - no insect infestations at all. The linen was clean and freshly pressed. I am struggling to recognise the hotel from some of the comments made by other guests. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. We had an issue of a no show taxi and the young lady on reception came to my assistance. She spoke with the agency and another lady arranged a substitute taxi for us. They could not have been more helpful. The hotel is next door to the park for the Chateau de Versailles, which was the reason for our visit. It is best to prebook tickets as it is very busy especially in high season. I did not need the hotel staff to organise anything for me as I did not regard them as my personal secretary. The buffet breakfast is exactly that, a buffet where you help yourself. There is a side selection of foods. As a vegan I am used to having to “make do” on many holidays but my diet is my choice. That said, I was pleased to find almond and soya milk readily available. The staff were again friendly and very helpful. I find if you treat people with respect it comes back to you. I appreciate that in some hotels staff may appear less than friendly despite my smiles but that is definitely not my experience of the Trianon Palace. Both of our visits have been enjoyable and I will treasure the memories of lovely stays in an exquisite place. The Chateau is absolutely stunning and requires more than one visit to do it justice. That has meant for us a return to the Trianon Palace, which adds to the delight. I’d like to think I am not unusual in having a wonderful stay here and judging by the reviews I am not alone. I suppose people tend to leave very positive or very negative reviews. Our experience falls very much into the poitive camp.

“Perfect visit”

I think most of the bad reviews come from folks booking the Pavilion building and not the main hotel. We just finished 3 wonderful days and have felt pampered from beginning to end. I’d booked a garden view (room #408) as it was cheaper, but could still see Versailles if I leaned out the balcon... more

I think most of the bad reviews come from folks booking the Pavilion building and not the main hotel. We just finished 3 wonderful days and have felt pampered from beginning to end. I’d booked a garden view (room #408) as it was cheaper, but could still see Versailles if I leaned out the balcony and we could enjoy the firework show from the palace for free. The complimentary macarons and wine were a surprise touch. The beds (actual king sized, not European king sized) and linens are lush, the Juliet balcony and French doors make the room feel even more spacious (thanks to the lady on TA that said the rooms on the 5th level are small as I’d originally booked up there). I loved having a separate toilet from the bathroom too. The outdoor areas are lovely, the patio is great people watching (I got to spy on John Malkovich getting interviewed), the restaurants are great but most importantly the staff are so nice and helpful, our housekeeper tidied our room so nicely twice a day I wish I could take her home.
