I recently stayed in Paris for one night whilst transferring from the Eurostar to a TGV service the next morning, which departed from Montparnasse. Upon entry to the Voco Montparnasse I found a warm and modern lobby area, with staff greeting me from the reception desk. The team member who performed my check in was pleasant and very helpful, going through all the details of the hotel. My room featured a large, comfortable bed with a desk/dresser unit and a chair, along with a shower/bath combo in the bathroom. Whilst there is not a huge amount of space in the room, the room was laid out well and I was able to move about it easily. Smaller room sizes are not unusual in many places in Europe, especially with older buildings in older cities, but those from North America or Australia/New Zealand may notice the size compared to rooms back home. The room was modern, well appointed and quiet even though it faced the Avenue du Maine. I did not hear much street noise at all, only the faint occasional siren that was able to penetrate the double glazing, which shows how well the building is insulated against outside noise. Breakfast was included in my rate and was available from the bar area in the morning. I was the first to arrive for breakfast, and everything was laid out and presented well. The team member greeting customers in the morning was very friendly. Along with the usual hot food (scrambled eggs, bacon etc) the hotel offers the standard European fare of meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, and had crepes, muffins and nutella madeleines on offer as well (with nutella available to spread on the crepes). I did not use room service at this hotel, instead opting to eat out, but when I did check the menu it seemed to be only bar products and bar food at night, however there are plenty of places to eat within walking distance from the hotel. Check out was a simple and effortless affair. Location: The hotel is located on the Avenue du Maine close to Gare Montparnasse. This hotel is perfect for those who are arriving/departing on a train out of Gare Montparnasse. Around the hotel you will find supermarkets, restaurants, and cafes. If you enjoy a good walk, places such as the Hǒtel des Invalides and Jardin du Luxenbourg are under 30mins walk away, the Eiffel Tower is under 60mins walk away. Transport: The hotel is located very close by to the Gaîté Metro station on line 13. There are also buses nearby with a bus stop located outside the hotel. Services operated by SNCF operate out of the nearby Gare Montparnasse (check your ticket to see which terminal station the service you want to catch operates out of though). RER B Line services are available from Denfert-Rochereau, which is about a 15 minute walk from the hotel. Orly Bus services also operate from here, and the RER B serves CDG Airport. Whilst this station is a walk away from the hotel, it was my mode of choice to travel between Gare du Nord and the hotel as it features lifts for luggage (whilst many metro stations feature access only by stairs). Once you leave the square where the station is, it is a fairly straight walk down Rue Froidevaux to the hotel, turning right at the Avenue du Maine. The other train option from Gare du Nord was the Metro Line 4 which takes you to Montparnasse-Bienvenüe, which takes about the same time to walk from to the hotel as it does from Denfert-Rochereau RER. In summary, a great, modern hotel with comfortable bedding and a fantastic team. I hope I will be able to stay here again sometime soon.

The hotel has a great location, right beside a metro station (Gaitre) and within easy walking distance to Montparnasse main station. There are dozens of cafes, bars and restaurants in the streets immediately nearby. The rooms are very elegant and the bed was comfortable and large. The room was immaculately clean and had a Nesresso machine. Breakfast was top notch, five star, excellent pastries and a really good Jura coffee maker with perfectly blended and roasted beans. The staff are all bilingual, there's an efficient lift and a bar. The only downsides are that the room was quite small and there is no gym, which was a disappointment. As were the three visits to the reception required to change my key for late check out ("system problem")

We stayed at Voco Montparnasse during the week of Halloween. It was a great hotel, always clean and well staffed, and the cleaners are fantastically attentive. The towels were replaced regularly along with the Nespresso capsules for the room's coffee maker which doubles as a hot water dispenser. Our room also had a mini fridge a closet, a hairdryer, 8 or so outlets not including 4 Usb wall ports to charge. These are great rooms in a very handy location right beside a metro and a short walk from Montparnasse Bienvenue. There is the option for leaving your luggage in a closet when you checkout which is always appreciated. I would definitely stay here again. Be advised I think this is charged at a 4 star rate for tourist tax but I could be wrong.

I don't want to be totally negative so I gave this a positive title, but overall it was 50/50 whether we had a positive stay. The first thing that struck us was that the room was small and hot and stuffy. I attempted to turn the aircon on and there was nothing, not even a fan pushing ambient air into the room. I went back to reception and was told that there is no aircon, after a certain date it is switched off and will only operate on heat when required. The weather was still loverly and warm and being from Australia if it was cold we would know it. I said to the young lady at reception that it would be impossible to sleep in a room that has no ventilation at all and she sort of shrugged so I said that I will open the window, she said no you can't. Anyway I did and despite it only opening a bit, it allowed some air into the room, otherwise we would have moved hotels. (There is a Mecure just around the corner) All the other guests had the same experience. I then enquired about getting up to a small town one and a half hours north of Paris where my Great Uncle is buried in a small war grave section of a community cemetary. The staff were of no help at all, they said that they would call me a taxi, I said that I would like to know the cost before committing to a taxi, they said that the cost is not up to them. I asked if they could at least get a quote for me but no, that was not possible. They claimed to know nothing of any tour companies that visit the War Graves of the Somme which is simply implausible. I was disgusted. Anyway, breakfast was good and the bed was comfortable, having the window open all night was pretty noisy but was the only way we could sleep.
