Booked 3 rooms for a family vacation, some have never been to Paris is the past, so I choose this hotel based on its location. The location of this hotel is perfect for 1st time visitors to Paris, especially if you want to shop and see the sites. The hotel is located right on the Champs Elysees with all of the shopping. And also waking distance to the Arc De Triomphe and Eiffel Tower. We stayed in the older rooms, and I know some of the reviews complain about the older rooms, but I found them clean and comfortable. And the hotel was able to get us all Early Check ins, Thank you! Service levels are what you would expect from a Marriott.

“Alert no available suite upgrade for Bonvoy Platinum at Paris Marriott Champs Elysee”

In my travels and since I have been Marriott Bonvoy Platinum for six years I have never encountered not being upgraded to an available suite or best room below a suite until AC Marriott Gangnam early April. Paris Marriott Champs Elysee did it again. The female check-in staff kept saying perfect but offered me king bed as an upgrade. I told her that was not the Marriott policy. After she consulted with some colleagues she upgraded me to superior family room, which was much larger but without any nice view. The two night upgrade was worth 600 Euro extra. The next morning I noticed a Champs Elysee view larger room (same size as superior family room) but with much nicer view and modern design was available so I requested for it. The second room was worth ~900 Euro vs superior family room ~800 Euro. The same evening a bottle of Merlot, two bottles of still water, macaroons and fruits were sent to the new room. Great service recovery. The female check-in staff was terrible. She did not even brief me on location and timing of breakfast restaurant. The breakfast restaurant was small with a limited spread but food was of decent quality. No champagne though. The staff was running around at their own doing taking orders for and serving coffee and omelettes. They got omelettes wrong for a demanding American couple on my next table. Gym was small with some dumbbells and a cable multistation. The gym lift lobby had a bad smell each time I entered. I cancelled my second stay after return from Mont Saint Michel and booked at Renaissance Arc de Triomphe.

Laughable front of house in every single aspect. Sadly, the service here is typical of any Marriott in the USA or indeed the rest of the world. It’s not what you’d expect. The staff think you owe them a favour and really begrudgingly do what they’re paid to do. Don’t expect them to come to you or be proactive in any way shape or form. They won’t.
